How the FSCK would you put more than 4? Is that even possible?
Op[tical drives have 4 holes on each side, while HDD's only have two.

Just checked, I use 4, not 2..

be honest now.

how many of you honestly put in every screw when building a system?

No, you are not supposed to use all 8, you use 4 the other 4 are in case your rails require different mount points.

At Best Buy, I usually lived on the edge and put in just one.

Kidding, kidding. 😛

LOL you may be kidding, but I'm sure many BB builders might not find the joke ha.

If there's space for 8 I put in 8, why you ask? Workmanship, I have a good reputation for building clean PCs over the years, & an extra 30 seconds of your time to screw in a few more screws why not? Worst it can do is keep the drive & case stable if it's spinning a CD at 52x.

with rails, 0. without, 4. how the hell do you fit in 8?

there are 4 holes on each side and most optical drives i've worked with have 2 sides. 😉

WTF kind of Optical drives have only 1 side?

Never. What's the advantage of using more than four? I would assume the reason for the eight holes is to accommodate different mounting rails and cases.

Yep, that's what I always figured too.

4 screws - top right & bottom left on both sides.

A two-dimensional one?

you guys haven't seen 1 sided Optical Drives?

it's an OPTICAL ILLUSION. 😉

8 is nowhere near enough. I need waaay more than that. I drill extra holes in my drives so I can put in 64 screws! 😛

Anyways, 4 is more than enough...
