I think the whole easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to go to heaven would kill Jesus in the republican primaries.

Actually, Jesus believed in separation of church and state.

"Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s" Matthew 22:21

No Republican would ever vote for Jesus, he'd be the perfect liberal candidate though.

Actually that quote was a brilliant display of not answering a direct question. People were asking whether or not they should pay Roman taxes because the area was under Roman occupation. If he says don't pay taxes, Roman authorities will immediately want him killed because he would be similar to a Tea Party supporter. If he says he supports taxes, that would probably look bad too.

Jesus responds by asking for a coin that could be used to pay taxes. He asks whose face is on the coin. It's a Roman coin so obviously it has Caesar's head on it. "Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s" means you can pay Caesar's taxes using Caesar's coins.

Similarly, you cannot pay church taxes using Caesar coins. The people who exchange between Caesar coins and God coins are called Money Changers. There's a passage in the bible where Jesus bitches them out because they were ripping people off, taking too many Roman coins in exchange for church coins.

There's any number of ways to interpret that: I was taught that what Jesus meant by that was that the Kingdom of God is a Spiritual one. And therefore one's obligation is to 'render unto Caesar' the secular requirements, as well as render unto God your Moral/Social/Spiritual ones.

How about in a fight to the death... or since they both get resurrected in their respective fiction... a fight to the finish?

yeah, but when Superman resurrects, he gets back to business and keeps doing his thing.

Jesus just takes his ball and goes home.

Superman would be problematic, though. He'd be too busy fighting the next great threat to the country--and the world--alone, while the economy collapses around him.

It would be tough on a nation to have their leader constantly under attack by threat after threat, with so many domestic issues being neglected.

Plus, being a space alien, I'm not sure how truly empathetic he would be towards human issues.
Superman could be really good for the economy, if used properly.

As soon as the Republicans heard that Jesus wanted universal health care, and wanted to appoint himself is the chief healer...

As soon as the American Medical Association (AMA) heard that he as going to be infringing on their territory...

He wouldn't have a chance.
