Sim City 4, I just "waisted" 6 hours on it.

But you really ought to:

1. Quickly get yourself to a gym.
2. Pump a lot of iron.
3. Go to the nearest beach.
4. Socialize with opposite sex.

You can skip 1 & 2 if your are a girl.

Have a nice summer.

Yes, I realized that after posting it.

So, in case you are a girl, you can substitute the iron with a stair master.

I think I need to follow 1-4 on that list cause I own all 4 games :D

CIV3 gets the most usage for me followed closely by SC4. The 2 space games I haven't got into that much. Moo3 is a micromanagement nightmare w/bad graphics, GalCiv is what Moo3 should have been but still for me not as much fun as CIV3.

In that case the plan will work nicely for you.

To be serious for a moment, I really like Sim City 4, but it really needs ram like no other game. I've just upgraded from 256mb to 768mb and it's working ok now on my XP1800. Just forgot to warn you the first time, the game is not that funny with 256mb, as it will begin to lag with 25000 people, did that with me.

moo3 sucks so many balls. or so much balls. whatever. its horrendous to play. save yourself and dont play it.

civ3 can be frustrating just because of the "strategic resources" but can still be fun and addictive for hours on end.

I might pick up simcity4 if i can get a good deal from our buddies over at the hot deals forums, but i am filling out my resume to get me a job at the local computer factory.

I've played Moo3 and SimCity4 and I can't recomend either.

I was a HUGE fan of moo and moo2. I was really looking forward to the third version. I bought it the first day it was out and was really let down. Its truely a nightmare to learn how to play and fully control, and its boring as heck just letting the game AI micromanage everything. I played the game through once and didn't even have the heart to play another time to see the other races. Trust me, if you loved Moo and Moo2 then stay away from this one, it'll break your heart.

I had a blast playing SimCity4, but it was buggy as heck when I was playing it. I also got it right when it was released and the game had some major issues with making your saved games corrupt or something. Once my cities got large enough to be fun I kept getting errors when trying to load them up. I would loose whole cities and it really messed up the regions. I tried several different regions and it always happened after a certian point. THere's several patches out for the game now, so they might have been able to correct this problem. And yeah, you need lots of ram and a good machine if you want to play this one. I was using an 800 MHz amd machine with 500 MB of ram and it lagged like crazy even at the lowest possible settings.

I"ve heard good things about Galactic Civ but haven't played it myself.

If you haven't played Space Empires IV, then you ought to check it out. It's one of the best space empire building games I've played. It's kinda old but I think they've released a gold version with some new mods or something.

Dave

ps. I couldn't find any new games to play either so I recently bought Starcraft again (lost my original cd's, doh) and its a blast as always.

Civ 3 of the choices you listed. I'm currently playing Neverwinter Nights(still!) and having a good time with it, and it has an expansion pack coming soon as well. Not sure if you have any interest in that type of game though.

Another vote for Space Empires IV Gold. My god, the hours I've wasted (I like to think invested) in that game. It's even better if you can convince a friend to get the game, you can unite and take on the alien empires. Either way, multiplayer, or solo, it is an awesome game. This is the first game that kept me up playing an entire night and well into the following day.

Oh, and if you're interested in following their four step plan, get a job working outdoors/physical labor, and you can omit the first two steps =) (and have money to buy more games that you won't have time to play!)

I don't know if you have any of these so I'll post more than one. If you want more information or want to see if these really are good, browse around for reviews.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Warcraft III (Expansion, The Frozen Throne, coming out in a few weeks)
Diablo II + Expansion Lord of Destruction (Wait until patch 1.10 is out, you can check www.battle.net to find out)
Neverwinter Nights

And if you have broadband:

UT2003
BF1942

Those are some favorites, there are lots more good games out there of course.

Master of Orion 3 is terrible. I really, really didn't like it. I used to play Master of Orion 2 for 15 hours straight.

Anyway, I don't like Sim City 4 either. I was a *huge* Simcity 2000 fan, but 4 seems very lacking in some way. Maybe my tastes have changed.
