Half pre-built through Transcend PC, Inc. and half built from me. ;)

They basically did a bare-bones setup with 3 years warranty and I threw in the rest. It's the best of both worlds. :D

Just assembled my 2nd one this last weekend. During this week, I've been "re-assembling" the old one with parts from the "really old" one.

My first computer was IBM PCjr, which is brand computer. After that in-house build all the way.

I've built all of mine. From my 486dx100 to my current Athlon 700. Not to mention 6 or more friends and my parents. :)

I bought an IBM a couple yeas ago, would never do that again. Assembled the one I use now myself, and will do the same for any others I have.

My 1st PC was purchased from Best Data (Arizona, now out of business) and was a 486SX-25mz IBM clone. It had 4 megs RAM, 40 meg HD, a 512k Trident video card (ISA), and both 5.25 and 3.5 floppies.
I've upgraded the machine every year and all that's left are the floppies........Greg

Well, this should be a landslide on AT's message board.
lol, I think if you took a general population sample the brandname category would win, but on AT's forums?

As if us tech junkies would let anyone else put their greasy little fingers in our machines :)

Edit: thought so as of now it's: 2,1,27

I'm not surprised at the numbers. I've built all 3 of my computers. I built my roommate's, and helped build a friend's at work. I built a crapload of servers and nodes one summer when I was temporarily transferred to another department of the company I work for. I also helped build an ILF.

Damn, I meant to vote that I assembled it myself, but clicked brand name by mistake. So substract one from brand named and and one for 'assembled yourself' :|
