Poll: Studying Abroad in College

My friend and I are going to be freshman in college this coming fall at the University of Delaware and considering doing study abroad over winter session. I'm thinking about going to Siena Italy, and my friend (whom this poll/post is for) isn't really sure where he wants to go. He's narrowed it down to four choices:

Argentina
Brazil
Costa Rica
Peru

He's a philosophy major and he's taking spanish as his language, any opinions on the locations or where he should go are appreciated.

If he's taking Spanish, Brazil is kinda out...
Costa Rica is Little America

Instead of Peru you should put Ecuador, it's better 😉

I'm going to be in UD in the fall too! I was kinda hoping to go to Sydney abroad...

I personally wouldn't suggest Costa Rica, because it's to much like the US, a lot of people speak English, your friend wouldn't get as good of an experience because of that. If he goes to a more different place he will learn more things because he/she is leaving his/her comfort zone.

At most schools you wait until spring sophomore/fall junior.

I'm not sure how common it is but it can't hurt and it seems fun. Anyone else know anything about these places or ever been there?
