This guy's been on the radio forever and yet I still listen to him on my way to work.

That's incredible how he's managed to remain funny and entertaining.

howard is kind of an ego maniac and the people on the show kiss his ass a lot, but he still has his funny moments, but opie and anthony are about 2000x funnier and better, especially with jim norton. O&A is on in the afternoon, from 3-7.

That show sucks ass. Not funny at all, jsut irritating. there aare much better morning DJ's on the air. Hel, some of them even play music every once and a while, which, after all, is why I listen to the radio in the first place.

I love Howard Stern. I've been listening for about 8 years now. Some say he's gotten boring and does the same thing over and over, but that's what most morning shows do. In LA, they all suck anyway compared to him. Kevin and Bean and Mark and Brian just flat out aren't funny or entertaining. Jamie and Danny are alright for a while, but Jamie gets really annoying after a while.

The show has certainly evolved over the years, and not entirely in good ways (e.g., there are very few produced bits anymore, and I definitely preferred the show 6-8 years ago, with Jackie and Billy West, to today's show with Artie, who seems not to write much of anything). That said, Howard is still brilliantly funny, and at its best the show is still side-splitting. Howard himself has become more interesting and introspective over the years, and so in many respects the whole show has matured considerably. On balance I think it is still the best thing on the radio - I listen to Stern in the morning, NPR in the afternoon/evening.

I go through phases. I'll listen to him for a month, then listen to cds for the next month, then go back to him, etc.

dakata24, you mean Artie? I think he is a great addition to the show! If it came between choosing either him or Robin to stay on the show, I'd kick Robin off before him.

Not nearly as funny as 5 or 6 years ago but there aren't any other radio shows that can match him.

Bah. Never wuz funny...

Mark & Brian were funny 10 years ago. Now they're dull as anyone.

Listen to KROQ in the morning nowadays, but even Kevin & Bean are getting old.

How is hearing about someone swallowing/regurgitating goldfish over the radio funny? I can sum up Howard's show quite easily:

"Oh, you're so hot."

"Show me you _______."

"Let's get some idiot to do something stupid."

Uch........ the puking sounds almost made me hurl, although since I know who Steve-O is (c'mon, Jackass used to be funny) I found it pretty funny that one of the fish came back out not fully in tact.

Obviously you're someone who doesn't listen to the show, but just catches bits and pieces of it or listens to other people. They are stunts and they don't happen the entire show. He actually has some good interviews on his show.

i try too...but every year he seems to do more commercials

this year it seems every time i get in the car he is about to go to a commercial break and those who listen to him know that if u catch it at that time, commercials are still going when i get to my destination about 10 minutes later

hmmm...let's see here.....last time I checked not all humans agree on every single thing right? If I find the show funny...it's my right...sorry if you don't like Stern..

He's been on the air for over 20 years....soooo...he must be doing something right...or maybe ALOT of people find him and his show funny...thus, his long career on the radio! :)

The commercial breaks are long because his segments last much longer than normal. It's not umncommon for his bits to last twenty or thirty minutes. They still have to pay bills. Thus the twenty minute commercial break.

I always find the Howard Stern detracters to be a strange lot. We're talking about a radio show. There are many radio shows in even the most remote areas of the country. Just change the cahnnel. It's funny to hear a "Howard hater" talk himself red attacking the merits of the show. Listen to the show for two weeks straight and you'll realize that it's harmless and entertaining. BABABOOEY

<< Yeah, his commercials do seem hella long. >>

They do, but he's on for about 20 minutes at a time.

I do hate getting in the car at the start of a commerical break and then half of my trip is commercials. :)
