Poll: Soda or Pop?

My wife went into a grocery store Saturday to buy some Pepsi. She hadn't been in the store since they remodeled it, so she asked someone that worked there where the soda was. The employee replied back, "Oh, you mean pop?" It was as if the employee was being a smart ass and I thought to myself, "I'd like to pop you in your mouth for being a smart ass!" Anyway, that got me to thinking, is it pop, soda or soda pop to you?

soda. everyone i know around philly says soda, everyone i know in singapore says soda, everyone i know out here in the bay area says soda
and i say soda

depends on where i am. If i'm in Arizona, it is soda. If i go home to visit my parents and family in Minnesota, it is pop.

POP!!
i think most people in MI say pop if they are natives(of Michigan!)

i grew up out west, it was "pop"

i went college in florida/joined the navy/went to boot camp in florida, everybody called it "soda" or "coke" (even if you want an orange pop or root beer, it is a flavor of "coke" , as in "hey joe, what kind of coke do you want? i'll take a root beer fred, thanks" type thing, its a southern thing , i think

Everyone around here (Upper Peninsula of MI) calls it "pop." I don't think I've ever ordered it as "soda" at a restaurant. 🙂

Everyone in my area of the country (Greater St Louis area) calls it soda. All of my cousins in Denver, Colorado call it pop.

You know. You guys would break my balls even if I resurrected one and most of you would jump right in and say "Repost" even if it were an old one. Besides, call it a social experiment. A lot has changed in the US since the last poll probably. Maybe the French call it pop and so we're now boycotting the word pop when referring to soda. Maybe, just maybe it's called "Freedom Soda" now or something. 😉

I was in South Jersey at an Ice Cream place with my cousin. The sign said "Jimmies" and I was like "WTF". A woman behind me explained it to us and I replied, "Oh, SPRINKLES"... 🙂
