**POLL** Should there be a set list of rules for OT?

I have never seen one, but maybe there is? I think if there was a set locked and stickied it would be easier for people. I really can distinguish a lot what is on the line and what isn't?

I am not trying to be a dick about this, I just think there would be less problems if there was a hard list to go by?

Do you think there should be one?

yes I understand the rules for the most part, but I see bans and locks that are not nearly as bad as other things.

Mods: I am not trying to cause controversy with this thread, I just think it could be good to get some discussion about this out here.

EDIT: I know there is a set list in FS/T because of money, but what about the friendships that have possibly been made here? I don't have any friends from here but I'm sure that a lot of members do. They probably could consider their friends more valuble than money anyway?

If you agree or disagree, please post, if you post something retarded please go away.

No. The mods have many unwritten rules. Plus we have had more than enough stickies.

yes, and i have asked the ptb about it, too.. but it seems like a no go.

if they happen to change their minds, i will be glad to donate my time to writing a rough draft for consideration. and i am sure there are a few other members... who i have discussed this with... who would be glad to help, too.

I'd try to help, but it seems like the rules change all of the time. its a good idea though.

I think we could save a lot of trouble and angry people if we had one, I would love to contribute to.

I think that is what the major problem is, noone knows for sure what is and isn't a rule, then they see one thing and it changes then they get in trouble?

hmm who is going to be in charge of the ever changing un-written rules? ohh we can have a giant roll-a-dex type thing where we change the rules daily!

We need some hard and fast rules set out, so that everyone knows what's expected.

We had that sticky a while back about name calling, but that doesn't seem to get enforced unless someone complains directly to a Mod (read: not often enough).

Unless you're new to this place, you should know all the banable offences.

Do you have any idea how long that list would be? I think they probably tried to make one, but since it's an Off Topic section, it's impossible to put down all the rules

I don't know all the banable offenses and I'm not new. Sorry but a lot of things that get people banned here confuse me, but a lot of things that people don't get banned for confuse me as well?

can't be that terribly long. Then they could point people to it as well when the screw up, like in FS/T just link to it and quote what they did wrong?

yes, and it is quite obvious that the more serious member WANT some consistent struture. This is evident by the reaction to things that should not be allowed here. It is usually these serious member that complain about it loudest and keep bumping the threads for the mods to see.

I'm pretty sure posting a thread about the rules in OT is breaking one of those unwritten rules.;)

No. Our rules here must remain unwritten. It's part of our culture. The axe constantly hanging over your head.
