They have plenty of time to sit on death row to have hundreds of dna tests run nowadays before being offed.
.... all on the taxpayers bill.

they should be castrated. solves the problem without killing them. plus life of manual labor so they're still productive members of society. hah, productive

No,

it costs taxpayers more money to execute a man than it does to lock him up for life. AND, this is not soviet russia.
We don't execute 100 people to make sure we get the one guilty man in the lot.
We prefer to let 99 convicts out free to make sure we don't snag that one innocent man.

Whichever side is preferable is a matter of personal opinion and, as such, should only have bearing on the opinion holder's life, and not the lives of others, else you are impeding the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness upon which this country is founded upon.

But in any event, I don't need more taxes.

If the poll had been for multiple convictions I suspect the "Yes" tally would be a lot higher -- how many "innocent" people get convicted more than once?

Most sexual predators repeat over and over again.

Castration removes the sexual urge for relief. It will do nothing for twisted rapists. They want that rush of domination and power, not sexual relief. They'll resort to other means if necessary.

only if it was a real rape... not something like statutory rape or the girl said she was "drunk" or something

There's merit to that thought. There's a big difference between a "real" rapist, and some poor schmuck who was accused of rape by a stupid girl.

Of course not. Why would you want to encourage rapists to kill their victims?

your right. lets let them off easy then

Gee, this is funny. And all this time I thought the legal system was designed to protect the innocent. not to punish the guilty. And imprisonment is hardly getting off easy.

I'm a firm believer of Karma, so just put the bastard in with the general population in the big house, and turn the other cheek. So to speak. 😛

i hear that

I think it depends on the type of rape also. I don't relaly see anything wrong with Statutory rape where the guy would be like 18, and the girl 17. Also, theres too many cases where the girl would just accuse a guy of raping them, and if the girls a little drunk and makes a wrong decision she might blame it on rape. It should really depend on the case though.

In theory I would support it, but in practice I wouldnt.

Simply because innocent people have been sent to death row for murders they did not committ. The rate at which our justice system would convict innocents of rape would be more than innocent people convicted of murder.

Personally I think murder 2, murder 1 and rape should warrant life of hard work physical work while in prison, without the possibility of parole, ever. It would be a slow death, much worse than a quick death.

No, I think criminals should at least be given a chance to reform themselves.
They have a life time up to the point of committing the crime to "form" themselves, what make you think that they will "reform"? All prison do is make them better criminals, more harden and even more ruthless (most of them anyway), so given the "reformed" rates vs the ones that will commit crimes again, I say "Give them the chair"...
