I really could care less if people want to hurt themselves, hey it's not my lungs.

But anyway, smoking marijuana does put more CO in your lungs than a cigarette, but people who die from cigarettes smoke packs a day, no one smokes that much weed.

That sentence thing seems a bit off, but if it's true, something is wrong.

Id beg to differ that people dont smoke a "pack" of weed a day.
What would that be in weight?
I know I smoke a pack of smokes every 24 hours or so.

And did you read the links, Tobacco is worse for you in all ways.

Are you dying of lung cancer? Most of the people that do die from cigarettes smoke more than one pack a day. If someone smokes that much weed, they must be pretty messed up.

No I didn't read the links, what I said came from a medical study I read a few months ago.

Let's see, according to your 7:1 ratio of cigs to pot, you'd have to consistently smoke 3 joints a day to equal one pack of cigs a day. And many people smoke 2-3 packs a day. No one smokes that much weed that I know of. I'm not saying marijuana isn't bad for you, but nicotine is a POISON. Pot is not.

<< One is, although no one believes it, cigarrettes are not only more addictive (marijuana is emotionally addictive whereas the nicotine in cigarrettes is medically addictive) but cigarrettes are also much, much, much worse for you in terms of your health. Much worse >>

So you're saying that since smoking is legal than pot should be too? Since when do two wrongs make a right?

I smoke over a "pack" of pot a day.
You people must now know many smokers ;)

I know people who smoke pot all day long, and they make more money than some of you can imagine (and NOT by selling drugs.).

However, most of them are self-medicating emotional wounds that they would be a hell of a lot better off facing.

I say, decriminalize marijuana and make hemp a cash making crop again, but don't legalize marijuana as a recreational drug.

I dunno..maybe I'm biased because the only people I've ever seen 'high' have acted like they have half a brain; completely stupid and unaware of anything going on around them. I fear that if pot gets legalized and more people start smoking it more people will become like these people I've seen.

I smoke about 2-4 bowls a day. Sometimes I wont smoke any. Sometimes I'll smoke a lot more then that. I can't tell if it has a long term effect yet.... but I am lazy...

Wow I am surprised by the poll results. I guess I don't give y'all enough credit. DECRIMINALIZE IT ALREADY!!! There's a lot we could learn from the Netherlands (and it's more than just about weed).

Iamdavid: johnjohn has posted hard fact on this subject.
Where are you links, references, anything.
Or is that an opinionated post like all the others are?

IamDavid, you'd be surprised at how much mis-information gets around.

I fear that if pot gets legalized and more people start smoking it more people will become like these people I've seen.

But with it being legal, people will be more educated about it because people will be more willing to truefully discuss the effects of it. People can make smarter decisions about Marijuana then.

This has been discussed here before. I have done a lot of research on this subject.

Marijuana should ABSOLUTELY be decriminalized.

I am definitely pro decriminalization of marijuana. There are far too many North Americans saddled with criminal records for simple possession of a substance that is readily available. To me, it makes more sense, that all laws and regulations governing alcohol, be equally applied to marijuana.

I wish the mods would not lock a legitimate debate about the laws regarding cannabis... but I have a feeling one o' them mods has a hankerin for a lock-down.

As for the question... I think that the government would have a pretty hard time changing the laws regarding use of pot, seeing as there are already laws in place and it does not seem to be a big issue(relatively)... I don't forsee anyone up and deciding that we should legalize weed.
