Though I guess 175 pages isn't a whole lot. I've always wanted to write a book, but I've never had a decent subject or plot.

I have trouble keeping my writing in one direction, so I thought an outline might help. Not sure yet though.

My writing never goes in one direction either, and I think outlines only turn the curves into rapid abrupt turns. For me anyway.
Writing like crazy, ignoring wild tangents in other directions, and then using some good old fashioned editing seems to work well. Especially for a short novel.
