I'm really thinking about purchasing the 20 GB Ipod. I've worked my @$$ off this year in school (junior year...sigh...) and I want to congratulate myself. I think the 20 GB ipod package is the most for the $$?? I'm also planning on getting a case (i've seen my friends' ipods, backs really not in good shape), trip fm transmitter and a holder so i can put it in the car. ugh thats probably going to be $500 ???

Get the iPod, and don't get the iTrip. You'll be better off getting a belkin FM modulator, the iTrip is garbage IMO.

I dont have one, but I do believe in rewarding yourself from time to time. Every so often you should make a point of treating yourself to something, like an iPod or new pair of shoes, etc.

get an archos jukebox multimedia, theyre better...
20 gig hd, color screen, watch movies on them or on your tv, get the camera adn you can take pics and movies, onlya 1.5 mp camera though, and theres an adapter for car casset players, so you can stick it in your car, not to mention that its $350... id go for that, i did :)
edit: thats a 1.3, not 1.5... still really handy though

I went through three FM modulators before I found one that worked decently (well two of them). I started with the iTrip, and it had this annoying hissing sound, so I sold that on ebay (for a nice profit I might add), then got some modulator belkin rebadged, also garbage. Then I got the older Belkin TuneCast, and it was a godsend. The signal was great, sound was great, I was happy. The only problem was it only had a few stations. I then got the Belkin TuneCast II, and I couldn't be happier.

I wouldn't get AppleCare on the iPod. What I would do is buy it through a place like CompUSA and get the TAP. This will work out much better because a) no questions asked, and b) you can "upgrade" if you like when a new one comes out. Costs should be around the same for the TAP or AppleCare.

does anyone know where the cheapest place to buy an Ipod is? I can get the student discount from apple so a 15gb would be like $269....any better deals than that?

Cost me 65 bucks for two years. I look at it this way. It was 5 bucks more than AppleCare, and when the new model comes out and mine conveniently breaks, the new one will only cost me 65 bucks (price of new TAP assuming the new model costs the same).

Well, technically it isn't a warranty. AppleCare is a warranty, the CompUSA is a one time use Technology Assurance Plan.

Best Buy's can be used more than once, but they aren't supposed to let you upgrade.
