Wow, RossMAN, I miss each of those guys, too. Frenchie lives near me, we had dinner together last year. Also, the summer before last, Roger came by my house on his travels but I was gone swimmun'. I love Roger (but in a manly, heterosexual way). And Russ was in my pantheon of real life heroes. Actually that's not a bad idea. You may be on to something there. Would save this site a buttload of BW overhead too.
It not going to happen because most people are here today for the forums not the uninteresting hardware articles.
I have been around here since 1997 and it was great back then because everything can be discuss on one single place, and most people were great (interested in computer) therefore there weren't a need for mods. However, all good things has to come to an end, because Anandtech grew from a few hundred viewers to the size it is today.
I din't like the idea of having multiple forums because it fragment the board, but accepted because it is not my decision to make. And, I was one of the users that protested the idea of having pecking order/rankings/titles because it gives regular users a sense of hierarchy status to jump on newbies with out consider the validity of the topic at hand.
Therefore, I regularly create new account/change username because of my personal believe.

Yeah, you should It is a hardware site, there are many other forums you can nef at on the internet.
If I remember right Off Topic started because It was filling up the General Hardware forum. IF you got rid of OT most people would just go back to the General Hardware forums, if any forum should be wacked I'd vote for P@N might as well call it the Flame or be Flamed forum.
But without OT, there'd only be a couple lifers. not the thousands we have now who gained post count solely from OT discussion groups :beer:

The first thing you have to do when you come here is ignore the post counts and member tags because they don't mean anything. I mostly lurk here and after awile you can see who's worth listening to and whos not by what they post.
