I had an ex-girlfriend who use to constantly punch me for no reason. I finally told her that if she ever hit me again, she would not see me for 3 weeks. Well, she hit me.... And sure enough, it was about 3 weeks before she could see me out of the black eye I gave her) 😉

A man should never hit his girlfriend/wife. There is no excuse for any argument to escalate into violence. However, I have no problem taking down a woman who poses an imminent physical threat to me or someone I love.

Are you saying you wouldn't defend yourself, by hitting back if neccesary, if a woman attacks you or someone you care about? I'm not saying it's okay to hit a woman who isn't my girlfriend/wife just because I feel like it. Is that what you thought I meant? I don't see how you can come to that conclusion.

Fortunately I'm not in the habit of hitting people. Violence is rarely the best option.

I hit girls a long time ago, during martial arts sparring. I would have felt very sexist if I had refused to spar with them.

Hypothetically, if Layla Ali took a swing at me, I wouldn't hit back. I would run (if I was still conscious at the time).

I think the original statement should be modified into just "i have no problem taking down a woman who poses an imminent physical thread to me or someone I love." Imminent physical threat, when applied to a woman, does not mean she's swinging at you or trying to kick you. If anyone, whether it be my sister, my mom, my daughter, my teacher, my girlfriend, my wife, tries to permanently injure or kill me, then gender is thrown out the window and it's just fighting for life.

i cant think of anytime it would be too appropriate to hit anyone. if i was in serious danger or something, im sure i would react instinctually...but...in general, i see no reason to strike a woman or anyone else.

i just realized that this may go without saying but
obviously, consensual "beating" is something i adamantly condone.

I am a firm believer in women's equality. As such I will hit a woman in any situation where I would hit a man. If you want equality you get all of it, not just the nice parts.

That being said I can't really think of a situation where I'd actually hit anyone, barring self defense or the defense of others.

You're so convinced that times were different, that women are somehow deserving of special treatment as to treat them as inferiors. As someone who's been hit by a woman before, trust me, there's little difference between a woman or a man punching you in the face or gut.
