Doing anything now is trickier since Israel's vote to depower their supreme court.

Still, I think something should be done. I'd suggest starting with a non-binding House resolution listing offenses supreme court justices should be impeached for. Unfortunately, the wrong party is running the House right now.

Yeah, I think that's a really awkward conjunction of circumstances. In Israel the forces of anti-democratic authoritarian populism want to bypass and neuter the judiciary while in the US the same forces are using the branch as their primary weapon.

Seems that there's no way to win when it comes to Constitutional arrangements. They can all be subverted, if the conditions are right.

People always think the rules will save them. They never will. What holds democracies together is not rules, it’s a shared commitment to the idea. If enough people lose faith in it that’s the end.

I believe that would imply that the idea of democracy is born of ideals. How did that happen and why would we be losing faith now? I know , easy questions.

I mostly blame social media (not a joke).
Nor would I take it as one. Before social media in order to acquire the notoriety to have a public voice you generally had to have achieved something in life, be accomplished in this or that area. That generally means, in my opinion, that you had to be standing on other achiever's shoulders and be radiating the kind of vibes that uplift and inspire others to do something positive with themselves.

Today, owing to the universality of voices making noise the worst can suck directly from the bottom of everybody because of universal access. Those draw flies like shit and the infection spreads from turd to turd and fly to fly like a plague.

Hopefully, social media is just another new kind of cult that the hatred driving it's worst practitioners will in the end become so obvious it will begin to repel most people and they will develop antibodies to its negative effects. The problem I see is that people don't understand their unconscious feelings and are easily manipulated by that ignorance. This is why I stress that self hate is a catch 22. There is nothing wrong with anybody but they we were taught early on that their is and that we do not want to see.

Anyway, it is logical thinking people who will help others to combat gullible acceptance of everything they hear on the net and help to kill that religion. I believe that because there is nothing really wrong with anybody there is nothing real to fear. The good is actually real and can never really lose. The reason why people lose faith is because they believe lies. Truth can't be broken but lies can.

Alito:
“No provision in the Constitution gives them the authority to regulate the Supreme Court ― period,” Alito said of the lawmakers. He added that “the organized bar” of lawyers would normally defend the court against its critics, but that has not lately been the case, so “I have to defend myself.”

Obviously, Alito getting is getting pretty scared. If he wasn't scared he would just sit back and ignore all of this. Alito acts like a criminal trying to evade police thus trying to evade the inevitable.

I can just see congress passing ethic rules governing SCOTUS then SCOTUS claiming they must rule on the legality of those newly passed rules. In other words, in the case of The Fox vs The Hen House, the Fox has the final say in the matter.

Alito, Thomas, and the other members of the Federalist Society have become way out of control. So much so that the entire court may have to be.... eliminated. Scuttled. Closed down. And replaced by an entirely new and different type of system. Actually, the entire US congress and the presidency itself may need to be eliminated and replaced because all of it has become so poisoned and is nowhere close to doing what they were created to do. To serve THE PEOPLE.

Now it has become a system of covering their ass while going after their opponents ass The entire system. From top to bottom. From ass to shining ass. (Sing along everybody)

Why shouldn't SCOTUS be subject to the same ethics laws/rules as other federal judges?

@Verndewdimus When should we expect SCOTUS to rule on cases they have so far declined to take up a total of 3 times?

It's frankly weird when people concoct these revenge fantasies in their heads. What has to be wrong with you to do that?

Hope he gets some help because he seems like a very unhappy person.

Hell is self hate. Instead of the beauty of the moment that surrounds us, all focus is on revenge. And for what, because we believed in the lie there is something worth hating about us. How egotistical can people be. All feeling worthless does is make us feel self important. "Look at me! See how bad I am. I will make you pay by wasting my life on revenge."

But owing to the need not to remember traumatic events it will be hard for him to seek help.
