Poll: Screw you other SUV's, I'm going home -- 347HP BMW X5 4.6is :)

My parents have the Volvo Cross Country 2001. It is a damn sweet car! Ruined my other driving experiences!

D'oh. I accidentally voted yes.

I think the ultimate Hot-Rod SUV is the Durango that Hennessey was working on. Stock hot-rod, ok maybe the BMW is ok😉...

It may be fast, it may be nice....but sure is hell ain't cheap!

What's the sticker price on this thing? 55k-65k?

Wow nice!! Too bad it's expensive as hell and I would have it parked in my garge all the time in fear of parts getting stolen. I know someone who drove his 100k Benz to his friend's apartment at night. When he came out, his car was tireless. 😀

When it comes to all the weight of a Truck/SUV... power is known as TORQUE HP is great in cars but it don't turn weight over.

<< power is known as TORQUE HP is great in cars but it don't turn weight over. >>

And if you know, the BMW has the torque to back up it's HP. The BMW (despite it's heft) is faster than all the domestic SUV's including the Grand Cherokee. The only faster SUV is the ML55. But this new 4.6is should take the crown away from Mercedes.

The X5 4.4i has 282 HP and 324 lb/ft of torque to pull it along.

<< totally 324 rocks... it's about time too >>

It ain't new 🙂 It's been in the BMW 540i sedan for AGES! 😛

The 4.4L engine is a stroked up version on the 4.0. it first appeared in 1996 as in the 1997 Model year 540i. The X5 is the first SUV if seen without the "This is a multipurpose vehicle/rollover sticker".

No it's the ultimate station wagon. I would rather have a real truck. In fact I do have a real truck.

If I wanted to go fast I'll buy a sports sedan.

<< Man, its not the initial sticker price that kills ya, its the cost to keep that thing well fed >>

Like getting married to one of those "high maintenance" women 🙂

I AM impressed with the X5 as a performance SUV, but I am confused as to WHY one would buy a slower, poorer-handling 5-series Sport Wagon with a high center of gravity and less than half the storage space. No question the X5 is the BMW of SUVs, but why not get the BMW of cars, their stock in trade?
