The funny part is when the liquor effect of the recall wears off and the Rep's realize what they just did ! Instead of supporting their own 100% verified Rep candidates who for the most part fall in step with their party line, instead they backed a "liberal Republican" a.k.a San Francisco/Berkley republican or better known as a moderate Democrat.

Arnold is not and never will be "like Reagan". The 2 things they have in common is that they are/were actors and they have an "R" behind their name in politics. Like I said - a REAL conservative/Republican can't/won't be elected in California until the state party leaders grow a set.

What has Davis done that changed from the first four years? I mean he was reelected a year ago and I just don't get the reason to recall.. unless they (?) recall the legislature or Bush's economic policy... Davis is fine and ought not have this to deal with as well. Arnold is nice but a joke compared to Davis... Davis is savy and since the early 70's (chief of staff to Brown) understands the game better than anyone around.. this I know!
Unfortunately it's to late for any rational minds to prevail here. If you read Rush's article and the LA Times piece Arnold might end up costing the Rep's ( not to mention the state ! ) a lot of grief if he is elected. I have said it before and I will say it again. Arnold would of never of gotten past a single Rep primary in a official election period. Of course since this recall does not require a primary it is very much in his favor because he is a famous actor and that's it ! So not only will the tax payer be burden with a 300 million dollar re-call election attempt but we may get burden by a very very bad governor ( i.e. Read WORSE THEN DAVIS ! ) by the name of Arnold Schwarzenegger. If Rep's thought it was difficult to get a Rep elected before well wait until Arnold is through making it impossible !

And Energy folks and insurance folks... is everyone daft..? I could understand if Davis had plenipotentiary power.. but, he don't..
That's ok for Republicans. California is an enemy territory anyway, so why not just neutralize it and call it a wash? There are plenty of true 100% verified conservative Republicans everywhere else.
He is a definate moderate......he's not even anti- union.
I would vote for him over Davis in a heartbeat.

I don't care - I'm sick of hearing Reagan and Arnold in the same sentence. This isn't a joke - it is the California Governorship. While it is a circus it is far from funny anymore.

That is absolutely not true. Gov. Davis is the current governor of California until the recall vote in October. He can resign anytime before then and the recall vote would be moot. You cannot recall someone who is no longer governor. By rules of sucession, the Lt. Governor would take the vacancy. If you want to recall the acting Governor, you would need another recall petition.
Actually you are wrong as the re-call has already been certified and thus that prevents GD from just resigning and handing over the governorship to Cruz. If GD were to now resign and hand of over the governorship to Cruz he would only preside as governor until the re-call election was over. Then whoever won the office of the governorship would take away that position from Cruz. Oh yeah and Cruz would not be able to take his old job back as well. Why do you think Cruz is running in the first place ? The guy wants to still have a job when all is said and done with in the end. So either way he will be out of a job if GD loses or if he resigns. Go dig it up yourself if you don't believe me.

Lt. Gov. is a separate position and can be from any party. If the recall passes it has no affect on Lt. Gov. position. If Davis resigns and Bustamante takes over as Governor then Bustamante is subject to the recall and according to California election code, precluded from running to succeed himself
It's strange that you're so against him. Most moderate conservative see him as the best chance to get a non-Democrat into the Governor position.
No he is not Libertarian, since he loves goverment social programs and taxing companies to pay for them and he also has a strong dis-like for guns and wants more gun laws. He is more of a moderate Democrat in Republican's clothing if anything.
he's a sustainable democrat. republicans have been brilliant to characterize social programs as entitlements, giving an aura of lazy people, handouts.
democrats have unfortunately called their programs to help the general welfare, basic human rights, yadda yadda which flows into the entitlement programs.
arnold is an intelligent democrat. he calls the programs a path to success. using his immigrant background, his programs become an opportunity to obtain the american dream. he taxes corporations the minimum to allow these programs to exist and not more.
it's a great platform, whether he comes out with plans and is able to do this, who knows. i'm betting he's resisting telling his plans because he's going to cut down on regulations and benefits to intice companies. and all the anti-capitalists are going to come out and say he's destroying california.
he's definately not a libertarian. libertarians think all power remains in the individual. sure he believes the individual has a lot of power, but so does every other party. although, i don't think he believes besides guns in cramming down social values down people's throats.

I would love to see an "R" behind the name of the Cali Govenor. Arnold just isn't a conservative - he's a California Republican which means lefty to most of the rest of the US. He can't be anyworse than what Cali currently has
