comparing rush with stern and britney spears is beyond dumb. they target comletely different audiences. however, comparing rush's success with that of al franken is completely valid given they are targeting the same demographic.


ugh, i was pointing out that salary has nothing to do with intelligence since people used rush's salary as proof of it.

as for franken, he's a political comic that sometimes writes books. their demograhpics are no where near the same.



and why is he successful? conservative punditry sees things in simple black and white terms. a moderate or liberal would see so many shades of grey that it would be both confusing and boring he feeds off peoples righteousness and aggrievement. and the facts.. well the facts have nothing to do with radio talkshows. statistics that can be twisted, and political spin are the name of the game. that and the big book of fallacies are used as his little playbook.

I think some of you people miss the point here. Rush is a talk-show host, not a politician, not a political commentator. He always mixes humor with his show, no matter how serious the subject...some people just don't get this. He's a conservative, and not at all right-wing compared to real right-wingers. Hell, I see one every morning in the mirror. Rush just makes fun of you leftest/pinko/ commies. I'd stand you all up against a wall....heh.

he's just a zealot telling his flock what they want to hear, no matter how twisted the reasoning. sure it entertains some people to hear discussion drop to the level of name calling. basically he spews a lot of words with very little worth while content. like it or not, he does influence his listeners, many who probably adopt his fallacious reasoning

BTW, I never said he was stupid, on the contrary I said he was a very intelligent individual and businessman. It's some of those who swear by him and his opinions who intelligence I question. In fact I believe he even makes fun of them. I don't know if he still does this but when I use to listen to him he would call his fans "You People" and would state that he would lighten their burden by doing all the thinking for them. Of course while saying this he was snickering sarcastically. But when the first dozen or so Dittoheads would call in it seemed more like a reality than a gag. I'm not saying they were ignoramuses because they were ultra Conservative (Tom you are Ultra Conservative and you are no Moron) but at least you have an opinion that was developed by your own intelligent deductions, observations and conclusions and I seriously doubt that you litter your sentences with phrases like "Femi Nazi" and "Whacko Tree Hugger". You have to know a Man of his intelligence must be laughing to himself every time a"Dittohead" offers his opinion on the air and all it amounts too is the fool espousing Limbaugh's rhetoric verbatim right down to the Limbaughisms

There is a big difference in calling someone an idiot and the explaining your point of view and just throwing around the word and letting it be it's own explanation.

I do not view myself as 'ultra-conservative.' I do view the bulk of voters and everyone that doesn't vote as very uninformed about the issues and those that they vote for. Most voters still get their info from campaign commercials and the left-leaning media.

A program like Rush's, and the list is long here, give a different 'spin' to the issues that is refreshing and makes politics fun if not just plain funny. It would be all bull if they, those I view as my political enemy, were not trying to raise my taxes and lobbying very hard to further their own agenda.

But, I see the left possibly winning this war as it is they that control the state funded propaganda machine known as Public Education.

Rush did not coin the phrases you give him credit for, but he is responsible for their widespread use and I hear them often used in conservation. Sadly though after listening to the 'user' for a minute or two I find there thinking by that individual behind the rhetoric spewing from his mouth has no substance. That is he or she cannot explain why they think the way they do. I walk away....

Rush is not always right and neither am I. But I will say that if you are brave enough to get involved and become a 'doer' and not a 'watcher,' you risk being wrong. That leaves you wide open for abusive and derogatory comments from the 'watchers.' That group of people never accomplishes anything of substance and put themselves above the 'masses of humanity,' rarely ever coming down from their pedestle which was not built by themselves and is like their own views that are not origional but built by someone with the quality of courage at least.

He has become an American Icon not because of his views but because of his accomplishments inspite of odds that were against him. He is likable. In one story he tells of a dinner he was invited to. One of those Femi-Nazis was seated at his table. Seems the host was hoping for fireworks and thus some notoriety for the dinner. Rush and this women ended up smoking cigars and having a great time!

I often see the Left treating their political opponents as 'the enemy' and not as just a 'political enemy.' There is a big difference. Rush has turned that difference into a living and a very good living at that!
