Poll: Rumsfield should resign

Did he screw the pooch ?

1. Not enough troops

2. Not well informed

3. Not enough planning for post Saddam Iraq

4. Did not notify the President that torture pics were going to be shown on TV

PS: I'm losing faith that Bush isn't able to make decisions on his own 🙁

Resign?

I could think of a more fitting punishment...but I'll take what I can get, which will probably be NOTHING.

Yep, thats right, and you should get used to it because thats what you're going to get in November as well. Absolutely nothing.

Format C:

Oh, I agree. Bush will win by a narrow margin, but he will actually win this time. Americans will not change horses while waist deep in the Big Muddy.

So many people think Kerry is a turkey I don't expect the "anybody but Bush" crowd to raise enough votes to defeat Bush the Buzzard.

Of course if Rumsfeld goes we will probably get Wolfowitz as SecDef. It'll be great! Soldiers will have their choice of wars all over the globe.

not only did he not notify he prez but he did little about it until the cat got out of the bag.
Riiiiiiiiiiight. CIC Bush was NEVER informed of this hugely embarrasing episode prior to press publication of the photos.

youre being sarcastic. but, i wouldnt be suprised.
this is the administration that kept the foremost expert on terrorism 'out of the loop' according to cheney.
this is the president that has his advisors 'read' him his news every morning.

i bet cheney knew, but i really think they try and keep bush in the dark if it all possible.

"An editorial in the Washington Post blames Rumsfeld for developing the system that enabled the abuse to occur. The paper said Rumsfeld overturned decades of military practice handling detainees in foreign countries, including ruling that the U.S. military would no longer be bound by the Geneva Conventions."

Isn't this typical neocon behavior? First, they give the finger to the U.N., then they give the finger to the Geneva Convention, which OUR COUNTRY SIGNED AND IT WAS RATIFIED BY THE SENATE, as I recall.

Rumsfeld should resign. And, I agree with Perk. Bush knew about this and so did Rumsfeld, since they admit a press release was issued in January. We are to believe that Bush is unaware of Pentagon press releases? Good grief, the right wingers must live in a bubble....

it's not a liberal vs conservative issue. Rumsfeld didn't do his job right, and he humiliated the US. Of course, bush won't do the right thing (firing him).

Yes he should resign, but if he does, it wil look like ths GOP is reforming and doing the right thing.
Rumsfeld is part of the reason people want to vote out bush. I say keep the stupid moves coming bush, vote yourself out.
If he stays, more of a reason to vote bush out.

I agree. Bush of all people should know about sticking with a dead horse.

The problem had already been taken care of... months ago, in fact. How did he not do his job?

Stunt:

Brilliant commentary! You should be running Kerry's campaign. 🙂

But, yes, I agree that Bush now seems to be the best player on Kerry's team.

GO, TEAM, GO!

🙂

I think he should shoot himself in the head.

I don't think you know what "the problem" is then. Failure to inform the president (so they claim) failure to inform the congress, failure to pursue it in a serious manner.
"The Problem" was NOT taken care of months ago.

I'm confused. Should he resign because of the abuse that took place under his chain of command, or should he resign because he didn't tell Bush?

Both probably.

If it was serious enough for the chairman of the JCS to beg CBS to hold off on a story, it was serious enough to bring to the president to prepare/pre-empt the huge damage to the nation that was coming.

Which ever one gets more traction....😉
The goal is to get rid of Rumsfeld - for what exactly is irrelevant. Too bad they'll get Wolfowitz if Rummy steps down or is fired.😛
