*POLL*Relationships at 16?

I'm 16 and perhaps a quarter of the people I know aren't virgin. No seeing the oppisite sex would be...nuts...

Relationships at 16 are stupid and pointless... You're a kid have fun with anyone you want dont let some chick hold you back from enjoying yourself.

I started dating my gf when we were both 16 (relationship was exclusive too)... We are still together after 7.5 yrs, and have plans to get married in a yr or 2 from now...

Well USUALLY, highschool relationships are meaningless since none of you actually know what you want (its usually the female in this case). But nonetheless, relationships, at any age, are a learning experience.

You can certainly have an exclusive relationship at the age of 16. I didin't until 17, but my girl was 16, and our relationship was as serious as can be. Just as serious as my brother's, and they are engaged.

agreed. it depends on how much you care for each other, and what you're looking for at the time. Not everyone is looking to party out, some people just want a special someone whom they can spend time with.

Relationships at such a young age are generally stupid IMO. A lot of people i know consider them learning experiences though so i suppose they do have some value for those interested

Depends on the people, I guess.

There are very few "free to see other people" relationships that work, though.. especially at that age. I can't really even imagine.

I met my girlfriend a month before she turned 17, and we've been happily monogamous for the last 1.7 years. 🙂

im 16, never been on a date in my life, probably never will🙁

heck, i have no friends in this state

total parties attended since i started highschool = 2
total parties reinvited too since the originals = 0

I guess it depends on the people involved. Some people are more mature at that age than others, and can really handle a monogamous relationship. But then again, some people still cannot do that at age 20. Maturity should be the determining factor, not age per say.

Couldn't agree more.

My girlfriend was very mature for 16-17. I was shocked. I think that fact alone is responsible for how well we get along, considering our age difference(almost 4 years).

hrm .. 16-21 i dated the same chick

my friend met her bf @ 16 .. they are 27, married and have a kid
my good friend met his gf @ 16 and they are getting engaged

not the norm but some work out.

Congrats. 🙂

It takes real maturity on both peoples part to make it work from such a young age. It speaks volumes for the kind of people you are, IMO. 🙂

Curious. How did your relationship develop? Friendship--> dating, or dating? I think it might be useful info for some.

[Fuddy duddy mode] 16 seems ok for dating in a group or 1-1, since "sex" has been mentioned though, I thought I'd speak on that subject.

Sex is a Cross Road in life. Once it has occured, there is no going back. Due to this, it is best to put it off for as long as possible and not rush in casually. Enjoy your youth, for it only occurs while your young! 😉 (duh) Of course if your young you'll likely roll your eyes, but(in fine fuddy duddy fashion) one day you'll understand the wisdom of waiting. 😀 When you're older(30 something +), you'll say the same to some other kid who'll roll their eyes, it's just part of the cycle of life. 🙂

at 16 one should be playing the field, not necessarily having sex with a bunch of people, but exploring.

Otherwise they end up 'having' to do it later in life, or the other person realizes they rushed into things.

It's nice to fall and love and all that, but if done too soon it's bad later on.
