Yeah, I'm kinda behind the times in games, but oh well.

I'm in for the evening, and just recently bought a "dual-package" of sorts, containing both Quake III and Quake III Team Arena. I've never played either, but which is more fun in the online respect?

Course, I may just throw up my hands and do some recording instead.

You would have been better off buying Ghost Recon Gold Edition. That game is so fun to play online it is absolutely insane. If you like to Sci-Fi and a little bit of Bunny Hopper's Delight, scoop up Unreal Tournament 2003. Raven Shield looks to be promising but I haven't gotten into it yet.

Single Player games I would suggest you look at would be WarCraft III (Online is fun but I haven't gotten into it yet), Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2 (Yes they are on the PC), Splinter Cell, Grandia II (That game is so fun. Best Game I have ever played). IL2 Sturmovik is great too.

q3a is still kewl, i play it everyonce in a while, online servers still decently active:) its also amazing how ultra high framerates allows u to aim so much better. i remember when q3 first came out and i was playing with a lousy tnt card how bad my control was.

team arena was a mistake. its kinda kewl, but online support kinda sucks a bit, i tend to play q3a more.

QIII:TA has the nailgun also.

QIII is the most skillful game out. If you want to play with the big boys I suggest the Threewave mod. It's hard as hell but once you get going, it's incredibly hard.

(Don't give up in Threewave if you're getting stomped. I've been playing it for about six months and I still lose but every once in a while when I kill someone, it really makes me feel good.)

id Software rules.

I got mine really cheap, actually it was a while ago, but my old comp couldn't play it. I got it at Micro Center during the summer for 3 dollars. The only catch was it is the linux version and you have to change some files around to make it work.

I actually bought Q3A a long time ago about a month after the release from a Hot Deal for around $20. It was without the box... only the manual.

Also don't forget Alliance CTF. Between that and threewave alone there are a ton of good maps. On top of that you can add the Urban Terror mod. I love Quake III and plan on playing it for a long time to come.

Well it is quake - or better: its mods. You will have a hard time to find TA servers I would say, even shortly after it was released the number of ppl playing it was quite low - but fun

Good luck to you if u are starting Q3 now - I havent played standard Q3 in 1 or 2 years and let me tell u jumping on a server nowadays aint funny unless u like to take a beating

Oh and until 1/2 year ago I would have told u to go download Urban Terror (played it contnuously for 1.5 years) immediately but unfortunately SID ruined it (absolutely unplayable now - for me)- so I am looking for new games now and actually I came back around to standard Q3 and boy was I amazed at the superb netcode and the awesome fps (that UrT used to have too, abeit at a slightly lower level)

the unlagged servers are kinda neat. rail gun heaven:)

still not sure how they work, wonder why all multiplayer games aren't "unlagged".

Yeah, what exactly does that mean, "unlagged server." How do they 'unlag' it?
