POLL: Public breastfeeding? I say no.

I voted NO.

There are certainly ways to breastfeed your children in private. There is no need to do this in public.

In fact, only yesterday, I was in a friggin' restaurant eating dinner and a woman was breastfeeding her kid three tables over. My wife was so irritated by it that she had to move chairs so she couldn't see it.

Things are pretty tacky out out there already, the last thing I want to see is you semi naked, since chances are you arent a "10" anyway. I mean why else are you trying to shock the public with your display of nudity under the guise of "feeding your baby" when all you really want to do is expose yourself in public.

Do that at home or in your car if you like, but not at Best Buy. We dont need to see pancake areolas.

The reason I bring this up is because a local woman in Dallas was asked to leave a store when she wanted to breast feed in a waiting area at a furniture store. The store owner told her no and asked her to leave. She called the cops and the cop said if it was his store, he would ask her to leave as well. She left mad and called a local TV station.

So what do you think?

allowed only if i am the "baby" and the "mom" is a milf

So what do you think?

i agree

there is absolutely no need to be breast feeding while in a store. if you're so concerned about the nourishment of your child maybe you should be doing something other than shopping.

wow you really do not have a clue do you?

What do you mean? That people who object to women breastfeeding in public just want flesh shown in a sexual way but not in a non-sexual way?

When a woman breastfeeds in public, the most you'll see is the back of a kid's head (or a blanket covering her and the kid) unless there's an accident when the kid moves too quickly for mom to cover everything up, which is rare.

I could whip my cock out and take a piss in some bushes

doesnt make it something that should be okay because "its not sexual"

theres a little something called CLASS that these people who breastfeed in public do not possess

I don't think i've anyone makes such a rude, ridiculous and retarded comparison in my life

Did you even bother reading that person's post before replying?

As they said, you can't usually see any more than you'd see from most young women on a nice summers day, so unless you've got a problem with that too, you're showing a ridiculous double standard because you don't find it attractive

I can't really understand why you'd be looking anyway, unless you do like that sort of thing, but are disgusted by a desire you percieve as 'unnatural'. so you're overcompensating by bashing it like crazy, gay dad in American beauty style 😛

same could be said with taking a leak by a tree

both are objectionable and classless gestures

'objectionable' to you for no real reason that i can fathom, and do you have any idea what 'classless' actually means?

Your comparison is still retarded. Breatsfeeding is an important & natural part of motherhood, public urination is illegal and unhygenic 😛

REad my post again, and explain why chicks showing lots of boob at the beach is fine, but breastfeeding isn't? What people object to is that they either find the chicks at the beach 'hawt', and the breatfeeding mums 'gross', which is a ridiculous double standard, or are incredibly, inanely prudish (IMHO 😉) 😛

Urination is an important and natural part of life, just like breastfeeding. Urine is sterile; it's not unhygenic. If he was facing a bush you wouldn't see much. Why not just look away? His comparison was spot on.

Most telling in this thread is the fact most people in support of public breastfeeding have fallen back to personal insults, the theme being that anyone not agreeing with them is a prudish American or a young child who must "grow up" - or in my case, an idiot 🙂heart: bry). Most against it have civilly said so and given reasons why. More parental entitlement (and kids who just want to see boobies) clouding judgement and begetting immaturity, it's really not surprising.

Every at-in restaurant and most every public place provides facilities for urination. What about breast-feeding.

BTW both my kids were nursed. My wife would manipulate her schedule for feedings to be back home/in private but I don't think there is anything wrong with discrete public feeding.

I've been trying to think of a way to express this in a manner that would be engaing and inoffensive, but I don't think it's possible to do so.
Your position implies a lot of hangups about bodily functions which most of the world doesn't share and you're unwilling to be objective about it.
Breastfeeding is not an activity which should be concealed or privatized, there is no breach of privacy occuring on either end of the experience, yours or the mother's.

Good luck with that.

Question: djheater, Would you be comfortable watching your mom or your sister breast feed? I wouldn't, but that is just me.

How about watching them take a leak?

I have no hangups. Your position that anyone against it must feel uncomfortable implies narrowmindedness, stupidity and an inability to read - I've shot that argument down already in a previous post by saying I'm comfortable with using the bathroom (who isn't?) but don't want to see it being done in public.

You're a parent. Congratulations. The world isn't yours nor should it bend over backwards to make way for you. Get off the pedestal.

damn. takeing a leak and breastfeeding are far diffrent.

with one a person has to expose everything. with the other the odds on you even knowing they are doing it are slim. im sure even you can figure out wich is wich.

would i have trouble with my sister or mother breastfeeding? no. i know both of them well enought to know they are going to take care to do it so that nobody knows (as im sure 90% of the women out would).

Disagreeing with an opinion does not make one a prude with hang-ups. It seems to me you are no more objective than CKent.

With regards to the original post, the furniture store owner was well within his rights to kick the breast feeding woman out. Whether or not I agree with his views on breast feeding, I understand that it's his establishment and he gets to make the rules.

You are bringing prude into it, I'm not. I'm not sure that so-called prudishness has any place in the conversation. I can't be bothered to look it up and attempt to rationalize it though.

I don't fault him for disagreeing, I fault him for not being able to defend in any rational way his distate for nursing. Equating it with urination or defecation is patently unsound, but he refuses to objectively admit that.
Our ausi friend put it well when he said that there's no reason for any rational, mature individual to protest breastfeeding.
That being said I can't help but think that the fervor stirred up is not about the act itself, leading me to assume other motivations.

Unfortunately CKent has now gone well off track and is enjoying trolling at this point. Ah, well.

I'm the one being irrational? I could respond to your trolling with more logic and valid points, but you've ignored them thus far and I have no reason to believe that will change. Society is currently largely against public breastfeeding and urination/defacation, that will have to be good enough for me.

I suggest you let your opinion be know in the poll then. You've already admitted to trolling in this very thread, btw.

I certainly haven't admitted to doing something I'm not doing. It's not surprising though that someone who can selectively ignore logic and reason would have trouble reading as well. I've angered you simply by not agreeing with you, but I remained civil and stayed on topic until you threw that out the window. You, on the other hand, have gone off topic to make personal attacks in an attempt to get an angry response. If that's not trolling, god only knows what is.

Urination is an important and natural part of life, just like breastfeeding. Urine is sterile; it's not unhygenic. If he was facing a bush you wouldn't see much. Why not just look away? His comparison was spot on.

I tried civility; it failed. At this point the thread is pure entertainment 😀

I accused you of trolling, because you are. Stating a fact is not a personal attack.

I suggest you go back and get your GED. Pay particular attention to English.

Discretion. I worked in a store where the woman plopped herself down in the middle of the floor by the ink cartridges, whipped her shirt up and proceeded to let her 3-to-4-year old nurse while dancing around. I was horrified.

My wife, on the other hand, will nurse our son when necessary but will find a quieter place to do so and will keep any naughty bits covered, as well as child calm and still.

Dancing.... I still can't believe it....
