My original pick was Spain, but now I am not so sure after Ireland made them look very ordinary.

England have a great shot if they get by Brazil....but remember:

No European team has ever won the World Cup when it has been held outside Europe.

Thats why I am voting for the USA.........:D

I think it would be a major shocker, but would be too cool.

With the way things are going I wouldn't be suprised to see the USA win and throw the whole world into a riot.

Everything this year is backwards.. the teams who are supposed to win aren't and vice versa. I would normally put my money on Italy but I am no longer willing to bet on anyone.

Go Germany!

in-ger-land, in-ger-land in-ger-land!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yes, England will lift that trophy in Yokohama. Having left brazil reeling from a 3-1 thrashing, England will demolish Germany in the final in a repeat of the 1966 final.

Brazil are certainly beatable, their defence is a joke. However, their attack is devastating if its allowed to get through, though our defence is up to the task!!!

England all the way!!!!

Have you watched any of their games? They have so many fans there, it's like a home game.

Owen is going to destroy Brazil. :D

ENGLAND!!

Only thing is the heat and humidity over there. It was 94 F for the Nigeria match and the England players just aren't used to that.
All the team we could play up to the final are used to hotter conditions and that is going to go against us.

There are good and bad omens for England this year.
Last time England beat Argentina in the World Cup was 1966
Last time the holders went out in the first round was also 1966 and as we all know England won that year.

Also, the three times England have played Brazil in the World Cup they have lost and Brazil have gone on to win the trophy on all three occasions.

My heart pulls for the USA, but my head thinks it will be Brazil.

And I wasn't even thinking about the weather until I saw Haircut's post. That makes a choice of Brazil seem even more logical. But we'll see. That's why they play the games after all.

I think it is more to do with the climate difference tahn the fact they have less support.
Most European players play over fall/winter/spring in comparitively cool temperatures.

World Cup is held over summer and this time in a hot humid country......that's why there could be a problem.

I got my money on Spain. GO RAUL!

The US has a good chance of making it to the semi finals, but not further I think.

OK - good point. Although it is also the rainy season and that probably works to our advantage ;)

Hey, you never no. US wasn't even supposed to get out of their 4 team bracket, let alone win first round of final 16.

But I myself voted for Brazil, though I think US will upset everyone and it will be US vs. Brazil for the cup.
