What percentage of all the data transmitted over the internet in the U.S. consists of pr0n. jpegs, mpegs, etc.

I bet it has to be at least 40% Warez probably takes up at least 50%. I am just baffled. I am sitting here at work with a t1 (and about 50 users) and sometimes everything just seems to bog down on the net. Its got to be the pr0n.

true that.. I bet 80% of the nets usage is from mp3's, mpegs, jpegs, and progs,... everything else would include broswing, email, on line games..

40% is probably way lowballing it, I would bet it is more around 70%. For all practical purposes porn drives the internet.

So pr0n takes up at least 40% and warez takes up at least 50%. You're saying more than 90% of America's internet traffic is pr0n and warez?

What about MP3s? Game demos? Surfing? People actually doing work?

I seriously doubt it's over 50%

there are many o businesses out there and I'm sure there's only a few peeps in the cubicals spending all their bandwidth getting porn 😛

and of course women aren't usually so horny that they go on the net and get porn anyhow.........and women make up a decent amount of the internet users

<< So pr0n takes up at least 40% and warez takes up at least 50%. You're saying more than 90% of America's internet traffic is pr0n and warez? >>

Well, since he's talking about percentage of data transferred, the vast majority of it would have to be porn simply because movies aren't small. Percentage of traffic is a different matter entirely. If there were 10 internet users and 9 of them are just surfing around while I download a 100mb porno movie, then over 99% of the data being transfered is porn. Their 1% of data consists of the random images, cookies, and other stuff you encounter while surfing around.

In terms of traffic, then 10% is porn, 90% whatever. Unless by traffic you are referring to data, then nm. 🙂

<< Gotta imagine that warez is just for the 1337 crowed, 90% of regular users havent heard of such a thing >>

ture dat

I think the real question is, "How much of the traffic coming into your own computer is pr0n?".

i read an article (FHM I think, 100 sexiest female celebs issue) that the online porn industry is the trailblazer for the rest of the Internet when it comes to security, customer service, business, profit, etc. or something like that.

i thought spam was the biggest thing on the net. and then somewhat random pinging/port sniffing/etc. actual useful work? maybe 3.2%
