Depends on the software companies and the general public ( not the hardware enthusiastics )...

I think you need a few more choises in your pool, I don't think it's great or it sucks.

From the benchmarks I've seen it sucks. And people that say that the software isn't optimized for it and stuff, well then the cpu it's self is no good if it can't run the software right. Like I'm not sure but I don't think that AMD Athlon or duron is optimized for any software, so why sould the P4 need optimization.

I think that it would have been a good CPU if it was released way earlier at a lower price.

I think that right now the P4 serves a niche market. What is this niche market you might ask? Either people with lots of money, ignorant people with lots of money, or people who use applications that can actually benefit from the P4.

If I ripped DVDs all day and had several thousand dollars to throw around, I might get one. However, for any one that has any sort of budget constraint, it doens't make any sense, at least right now. With the poor application support right now, there isn't any good reason for most people (or companies) to get the P4.

Perhaps later on down the road it would make sense, but not now.
