name brand. With generic you may get good stuff 9 times out of 10 but with the falling prices why chance it.

It all depends on the application, and whether or not I was ordering anything else at the same time, saves on shipping. In general, I go for the good stuff from a reputable vendor- I've used Azzo, Memman, Crucial and most recently Mushkin, I like Mushkin a lot. Killer service, and they're local, so I pay no shipping.

Most people don't need the hottest top-of-the-line stuff, but quality shows, and is worth the extra $.

Brand, always. There is nothing like troubleshooting with a crapped-out nobrand memory chip :)

I have not used generic memory for years. Besides the chips, generic from unknow source often uses 4-layers boards which is very unstable compared to the 6-layer ones used in better quality board. For those who think that it is good enough, please read this thread.
