With memory prices falling, how many people still go the crucial/muskin/corsair route vs. the generic "hope this is the good stuff!" method?

Brand name ram is overrated. I've never used anything but the cheap stuff.

I use Cube pc100 in one of my slots and even though it wasn't specified as CAS2 which sells at a small premium, it's always worked fine.
*what I mean to say is that brand name memory might go beyond bare minimum specs allowed.

A little of each.
My RAM is rated to run at 2-2-2 100Mhz and I use it.
It's not a big brand tho

(I know my sig says it's Micron, it's not I'm just to lazy to change it)

I have sticks of Micron and Toshiba running 2-2-2@100mhz

Would you consider these name brand or not?

I use either Crucial by Micron, Spectek by Micron, or EMS. I prefer Crucial. That's what I currently use. :)

stick of mushkin, stick of generic.
the generic is 7ns pc100 cas 2 sdram (it's good up to 142MHz)
the mushkin is pc133 cas3 sdram (it's good up to 150)

I used to run mostly generic PC100, but with the newer processors ram that runs at 140MHz plus is required for extreme overclocking. I run Mosel pc133. :)

<< I just buy the $hit with the micron chips on it. >>

Be careful of a 4 layer PCB :)
