I agree, but think about it, PF was never a 'song' band, they're more an album band. What song would you pick? Money? Comfortably Numb?

My Dying Bride - For My Fallen Angel

Edit: Best from that list would probably be Bridge over troubled water.

Time
Wish You Were Here
Comfortably Numb
The Final Cut
Another Brick in the Wall

Then maybe we can start on this list ;)

But, if I had to pick one Floyd song, it would be Time.

Money was the worst song off of DSOTM btw.

As for the list, that's a hard one. I am currently deciding between:

Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin
Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan
Hotel California - The Eagles
Hey Jude - The Beatles
American Pie - Don McLean
Sympathy For The Devil - Rolling Stones
Let It Be - The Beatles
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes - Crosby, Stills and Nash

I don't care for any of those songs, however I would pick either Walk this Way, or Bohemian Rhapsody.

I think this is not possible to do. You must narrow the song category down. A lot of these songs have nothing in common accept that they are songs

Most good songs were written before you were born.
Seriously.
There are of course some exceptions, Jane's Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Phish, and a few others.

Now the 80's...
What a complete disaster!
Falco, Wham, Tears for Fears, Cindy Lauper, Culture Club, oh god it is no wonder we were all doing drugs.

I'm 21 and voted for 'A Day In The Life - The Beatles', and have heard most if not all of those songs. maybe you just need to get out more? :p
Actually, looks like Yellowfiero put it together pretty well:):
