(Crack or Heroin?) ;) I'm gonna buy one, forget online fees and all that stuff, just tell me which one is the better game? Only vote if you've played both online. Thank you.

Thanks to those of you who are voting, but does anyone have anything to say about it?

Never played that first game...haven't even heard of it :) But I was addicted to EQ for well over a year since the day it released...sald my accounts on eBay for some nice coin and haven't looked back.

I think EQ was the best game ever made, but that's just me...was cutting edge for its time and I played it non-stop day in and day out unlike any other game.

frankly im willing to pay for fee-based games simply cuz they are monitored for cheats/hacks and have regular updates etc. EQ is great in those respects, thats the only reason im paying $20 a mo (2 EQ accounts)

LOL, i'm such a game freak...

Having played both:
PSO- designed the way i think Diablo2 should have been. The visuals are sweet, the gameplay is really nice, co-op multiplayer blends perfectly into the game. The single player is nothing compared to co-op, but still alot of fun. However, all the cheating that started about 2 months ago RUINED the entire online game. Single player is still fun, but multiplayer has been destroyed. Online play when it wasn't hacked, you could join for 1/2 hour beat (1) stage, have fun, get the days frustrations out on some virtual badguys, then get other things done the rest of the night, or continue to the next stage if you wanted.

PSO2- should be out in about a month, hopefully they will fix all the cheating.

EQ-visuals were awesome 2years ago, today they are still nice. Gameplay fun for about 2 months, till you realize: you can't solo play for crap, finding a group and getting everything going can take 2hours+. Very time consuming game, and repetition galore, when people awake from the EQ addiction they are normally pissed they wasted so much time. Addiction is the correct word, trust me... lol...

Personally i like games where i can play for 1-2hours have fun, relax, make jokes, then do other things the rest of the night. In EQ inorder to have "fun" it can take 2+hours just to get the action going. Ask any true EQ player the average time they play EQ a night... 2hours minimum will be the answer, wouldn't be suprised if they say 4hours+...

Three words: Necro, Druid, Shaman :) I played solo with my Shaman until around level 40. Sure, I grouped quite a bit from time to time, but never had a problem "kite'ing" for xp :)

3 words-> Everyone picks those. lol...

I agree they are decent at solo play, guess i prefer the melee types. :)

After a hard day on the Anandtech forums i prefer to pound baddies into the ground with a large axe. lol...

Work has been slow last week or so, guess that's a good thing-(my servers are stable.) lol....

A little comment about the soloing in EQ. Even if you pick a class like Necro, Druid, or Shaman. You will find that once you get into the high levels you are pretty much forced into grouping for the fun things: Dragons, Gods, Etc. Yet at that point there is tons of people playing your Necro, Druid, and Shaman class so you have a much harder time getting into the action (plus you won't know jack about grouping). In the end EQ is a great game but it forces people into little pigeon holes and like someone else mentioned... ends up causing people 3+hours just to figure out what they are doing... and then another 5-7 to do the task. When you start doing this regularly you screw with your own life. If you are bored enough to dedicate a ton of time to EQ... you might as well take on a second job or take up a sport. Both would probably take up less time, heh. ;)

Solo play in EQ: Necro, druid, Mage, are 3 of the 4 chars i have and soloed till past lv 45 easy with all 3.

Im the kind of person who doesnt like to rely on other ppl for me to have fun in the game. I have to say that of all 3 chars, the druid was the most (rediculously) easy to lv up. Got to lv43 with 4days 3hrs /played tho ive heard of others doing it even faster then that
