Burned on the stake where you will witness and feel the pain of your flesh slowly deteriorate or drown in the ocean as your lungs fill with water after which your limbs have lost feeling of your limbs due to frostbite?

drowning aint that bad, I'm told that at the end, you accept you are going to die and are content with it or something like that. Besides it dont friggin hurt like fire does.

Fire...I've been close to drowning, and I cant see it being worse than being burnt.

Fire, a lot more physical pain. Drowning just seems like a bit of panic, then a loss of senses and passing out, pretty painless after you get through the panicing.

I put a little twist to the question so that people don't say that drowning is quicker... now assume that its ice cold water and after feeling the pain of frostbite you slowly go down or are forced down.

after seeing a bad movie the other night, my worst fear is death by quicksand. *shudder*

Drowning would suck, but being burned at the stake would suck a lot worse. I have a lot more respect for firemen than lifeguards.

right now it seems to be overwhelmingly fire...

haven't you guys ever swallowed too much pool water before? I did when I was a kid and there's this severe pain that strikes the frontal part of your brain and then all your muscles contract as you struggle for life...

More water votes yet?

I've heard/read that you pass out from trying to hold your breath when you drown, so you actually suffocate before you realize the water is in you. *shrug*

With water, I believe you pass out from lack of oxygen and then you die... with fire.. you are enduring pain at the onset. Therefore the pain with fire is greater than the pain from drowning.

but, you burn your nerve connections and cease to fell. Perhaps that feels really good, I dont know. I have never had such a burn where I stopped to feel that skin.

guys, in either situation you suffocate (sp?) from lack of oxygen, the fire won't get to you if you're standing still, the fire will burn up all your oxygen and you'll pass out, same as drowning, except actually probably less painful..

now if you're running around and letting it burn you, it might hurt more :)
