I love the work *when* I get to do it. Right now I am getting paid to do squat and it is boring as all get out.

I know how you feel.
 
The only thing I like about it is the fact that I have so much time to do other things (post here, surf the web, buy/sell in FS/FT, do schoolwork... I did the first two weeks worth of one of my classes in the first two days of the term. Then the stupid teacher decided to take down the rest of the term's coursework. 🙁)

Other than that it sucks. The pay bites ass as well.

i dunno, I like the place, but as far as what they need me for...... they've offered me more hours in another department, and it's tempting to take the hours, but it'd cut into time i've got set aside for Other things... plus, though the other dept is a skill that's very hard to get expierience in, and could be valuable, it'll be getting away from my core intrest, the core area of where I'd like to gain expierience. plus I'd like a job right now that'd allow me to become independent of living with my folks.
 
Sometimes. But I grow weary of the politics and the caste system which exists at this institution. At some point I just may cash in my chips and move along. Their loss!
 
my job rocks, i do nothing most of the time, but i'm here for when things go wrong.

Watching braveheart, just finished watching legend of drunken master (AWESOME!!).
 
better than being in stuck in a job against your will, legally bound not to quit.

i really should not be complaining...

not everyone has their own office with internet connection.
not everyone's manager is relaxed about coming in at 10-11 am.
not everyone's company is cool about software management / internet usage.
not everyone's manager encourages to take break as often as you can... she says that it's a must.

but i want something more challenging.

Very similar story in my case. I'm supposed to be doing engineering work, but I seem to be doing more technical writing than anything else, which is boring as heck to me.

and is boring. It's kind of fun when you actually get to fix some machines or build one. But then, you have to deal with old people and stupid people. Ya know the kind where you can make it work at the shop but they get all pissed because it doesn't work at home...then with all the cheap customers. The ones with a attitude. The old ones...ick..I don't want to go no more 🙁
 
Love it - great company, awesome environment and people here, and the technology is astounding and makes me learn every single day.

Only downside is unreasonable software developers as clients... 😛

for all of you tech's who complain about how much your job sucks, just to let you know i'd kill for a job like that 😉 it's a good thing to put on a future resume, you get to sit down(as opposed to standing for 5 hours straight, no breaks, while trying to keep your money straight and not get frost bite from the ice cream 😉) and i'll bet it pays better too. i get $7/h cnd 😛

So basically I'm waiting on a offer from 2 places whichever comes 1st so I can GTFO.
