I got this email from paypal:

We have conducted an investigation regarding a particular
payment you received. We have determined that the
funds were fraudulent and have completed a reversal of the
payment. The funds have been debited from your account.

In order to find the transaction in question follow these steps:

1. Log on to your PayPal account
2. Click on the Transaction History subtab
3. Find a transaction line in your History that signifies a payment that
you received that now has a status of "Reversed." There should also be a recently
added line in your log that has a type of "Transfer" and a status of "Completed."
Both of these lines correspond to the same transaction. They should both have the
name of the sender in the Name/Email column.

If you have questions regarding this reversed transaction you may click reply to this email
or send an email to completed_reversals@paypal.com.

I've see other people on the forum getting this too.
But this is different. My account has been closed - for nearly 6 months!
Paypal wont let me log in and when i request my password, it says my email is not on file! :Q:disgust:

uh, did you try to e-mail them at the address and tell them that you're unable to login to your account?

I don't have too much experience with paypal, but it's kind of like when someone writes a bad check. You deposit it but if the funds aren't there they take it right out of your account and charge you a fee to boot. Unfortunately, it's up to you to track down the buyer and get the money out of 'em. I agree it's not fair, but if you want to be completely protected against this, demand a money order.

Sorry... that really sucks!

If your account was closed and there was no money in it, then who cares what they do.

Of course, if they start charging your CC for these charges, then you should pursue legal action.

Otherwise, paypal sucks. I pity those who actually still leave money in an account there.

back in december, I had a problem with a certian bad trader. I emailed both hotmail and paypal about it. Hotmail removed his account and to this day, I havent heard a word from paypal.

if its my paypal account or my bank account, i dont know, but they have my bank account # and my debit card # (even after i closed my account there).
 
That's crazy. It's weird to know that lots of the &quot;professional&quot; eBay dealers use it as their sole method of payment.
 
Yep, they have your checking account number. It doesn't matter if you closed your account with them, they can still reach in and grab your money. This is why I refuse to use them.

Well, how about close the checking account you've registered with paypal.

Then go to gomez.com, open a new checking acct and you get at least $50!

But it you direct deposit your paycheck there, you may want to wait after
the direct deposit has been changed.

The terms of use have stated that a credit card or debit card on file can be charged for charge backs (users that follow the steps in the Seller Protection Program greatly reduce their liability for charge backs). No withdrawals will occur out of your bank account.

Bank withdrawals and deposits are covered under (if memory serves correct) Section E of federal banking laws. We do no transactions against the bank account without a user requesting it from the web site (in the rare event of a technical error, we would fix the issue).

Not sure I like the results of the poll, but from my experiences the users in this forum have had issues in the past with:

1. Account restrictions-these are drastically reduced because we can now isolate a transaction in question (like yours). An account restriction occurs only if someone has violated the terms of use or if they are engaged in fraud/potential fraud.
2. Charge backs-Sellers can protect themselves from charge backs if they follow the guidelines of the Seller Protection program.
3. Scammed-this is the internet and these items can happen if a user does not protect themselves. We aggressively pursue all fraudulent activity that impacts our user base.
4. Fees for credit card acceptance.

These are the main items I have run across and it is why I try to assist the users out here. If you would like to create a poll that could help me, I would recommend an open-ended one (if possible) because it will give me the &quot;why&quot; of what impacts users in a negative manner---my reports go through a good chunk of the organization and we have made numerous changes as a result of feedback in this (and other) forums. I can guarantee it will be given attention and consideration.

To paypal's defense (don't hurt me)....their seller-protection is MUCH greater than with BillPoint &amp; some other services who will NEVER protect a seller from chargebacks &amp; don't require any real verification from those that open accounts. I got screwed by a cc scammer w/ billpoint &amp; they would not even investigate. They simply kept my money.

Still....my vote (even though I still use it): Paypal is SUCK
Why? FEES!!!! Those of us that use it the most are the ones that get stuck paying out of our butts. I was SOOOOO pissed when I had to &quot;Upgrade&quot; my account!!!!

If a user registers the debit card with a Visa/MasterCard logo---it is basically treated as a credit card. I understand the connection, but the usability is different.

Paypal and x have never done anything for the benefit of the customers, only for the benefit of themselves. They've screwed us over by empty promises, and of course, their infamous policy changes.

Your intentions might be genuine paypaldamon, but your company that you represent, obviously doesn't give a s**t.

Thanks. Just as an FYI, many of the policy changes related to withdrawals have been put in place to reduce the risk of fraud against internet users. We have also made many changes to the way we combat fraud that help reduce the impact on legitimate users.

Policy changes are inevitable in any organization and we have made some modifications so that users can be kept up to date (opt-in users would receive email notification and we are possibly changing some items on the sign-up page so that a user can decide what kind of information they would like to receive---such as product versus policy change. There is also a Policy Updates link on the site that shows users when it was last modified after they log in. We want to give as much notification as possible on any issue.

We have some additional product offerings that will further increase the usability of the service for other items.

If you have some specific concerns or things you would like to see change---please feel free to express them. As an FYI, my reports on user problems stretch across much of the organization (Customer Service, Engineering,etc.) and this is done to give a hands-on feel for what is impacting you, or other users, in a negative/positive manner.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that's some crap that management fed you. IT DOESN'T MATTER if there is a credit card logo, it STILL comes directly out of the associated checking account.
