Poll: overclocking celeron 566e?

i have my celeron clocked at 566@850.
i tried to raise the vcore to 1.7, 1.75, 1.8, 1.85, and 1.9 and still
couldnt get close to 1G. any idea why??

Hey guys. My friend has a Celeron 566, not sure about any other specs on the processor, but he also has the Asus CUSL2. He can't get the CPU to OC at ALL! What's up with that. I've learned a lot about AMD OCing, but not Intel OCing. Can anyone tell me what I should tell him to do? He has a single stick of 128MB PC100 SDRAM, Asus V7700 Deluxe, Linksys NIC, Maxtor 6GB HDD, WD 20GB HDD, 300W Sparkle PSU, etc. I know he has a CoolMaster HSF unit, but not sure on the model of that either. If you guys need more info to help him on his way, please Private Message on Anandtech Forums. I will subscribe to this thread to check back! Thanks guys.

compare the s-specs of the 566 @ overclockers.com cpu database and see if he got a bad batch...some 566's would not budge.

heh, I had one that hit 950 at 1.75, would POST at 1050, but my HD didnt like that FSB speed.
Too bad my Bh6 r.1 didnt have 118 FSB, than I could of had it over 1Ghz all this time.

I bought a 566 that was 'unclockable' by the previous owner and ran it 850(100fsb) no problem. Probably just the bios setup held it back before. It did it at 1.75v.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that he did get it to post and run around 850Mhz, but then his Windows would get corrupt, along with all of his other files. He uses his 20GB WD as the master HDD. Any suggestions there? I believe he ran 100FSB and 8.5x multiplyer. Thanks again!

I have OCed many 566's super easy! most past 850, BUT... if its a cB0 find an older one, earlier than week 30, week 10 - 18 are real good from Maylasia, the newest cB0's SUCK! don't OC worth a darn. cC0's ROCK!

Got 977MHz at 1.7V on a cBo stepping chip. Using Golden Orb with thermal paste and a 80mm case fan suspended above Orb blowing onto it. Temp is 38C max under full load.

i just got my celly 566 two days ago, and i got it up to 706 so far without a single problem. we'll see what happens.... whats a safe temperature for the CPU and the system anyway. my CPU is at 78 and system at 27.

I have had good luck with the 566's. The one in my sig has been running that speed for over ten months now with no problem. My two friends are running 566's I got for them at over 900mhz each. Not the best deal out there now with all the cheap duron's, but if you already have a nice bx board it is still a good deal.
