I've always wondered whether these this were real or not. Never had the gall to play one so I don't know (religious, not because i'm scared:D). Anybody other there with insight or strange occurences they'd care to share?

I've played it many times with different groups of people. We'd sit there for 15 minutes and nothing would happen. So I would get really bored. Eventually I just move it myself to the answer that the people wanted just to please the psychic fans in the room. Then we could stop playing and do something fun again.

It can also work subconsciously. For example, take a ring or other object with a little weight. Tie it on a string and hold the other end of the string with the weight suspended above the floor. Be still and do not move the string at all. Then imagine the weight moving in a circle without moving your hand - it will move in a circle. Then imagine it moving in a line without moving your hand - it will move in a line. Measurment done show that you subconsciously move the string with subtle hand movements just by thinking of one movement. Same thing can happen on a Ouiji board - you can without knowing it move it yourself.

No, actually the manufacturer infuse it with super paranormal powers before boxing it and shipping it.

There was an episode of Penn & Teller: Bullsh*t! where they examined Ouija boards and whether they were real or not, among other psychic stuff. It provided some pretty convincing evidence that it's just unconsious collective reasoning. Check it out; the show is on Showtime.

"There's a sucker born every minute." -- P.T. Barnum

Modified to bring into contemporary alignment:

"There's a dozen suckers born every minute."

She also happens to genuinely believe (as I now believe she is) that she is genuinely 100% mystic, or a channel if yoiu will. This doeant mean she's psychic, it apparently means that she can act as a conduit for spirits and attracts them somehow (dont ask me the full details i only know what ive heard from her and read up on). Anyway shes always told me about strange stuff thats happened to her to do with ghosts and stuff, and as i was really interested in that type of stuff we had a long talk about it. Ouija boards came up in conversation and I asked her if she'd ever done one. She said she had but they were not to be messed with but being me I begged her to show me, and to be honest I didnt really think it would work it was more a curiousity thing.

Anyway, she got one of the "proper" ouija boards out, hand-crafted and it looked pretty old to me. I asked her how it worked and she said that we simply both placed one finger ewach on the glass tumbler that was placed in the middle of the board and she would ask the board questions, and try to attract a spirit. Feeling a little nervous now i placed my finger on the tumbler with her and... nothing... nothing happened at all for about 4 minutes of sitting there with me beginning to smirk a little. However my Gran hadnt moved and had her eyes closed, so I asked her if it would work. She opened her eyes and just said "be patient and watch". OK i thought and waited a minute longer. Then all of a sudden the small glass tumbler started moving firmly and at a consistent rate to the letters around the board. Of course this made me jump more than a little and I watched the glass spell out the word "EDEN".

The significance of that is that it is my Grandmothers maiden name, and I. just sat there feeling really weird as she asked it "Who are you?" To which it replied (by moving the tumbler to the letters) "CEDRICK". Now Cedrick is my Grandmothers Great-Grandfather, something i didnt know at the time. I looked at my Gran and she just sat there looking really calm and started asking it/him questions like how was he doing in heaven and all this really crazy shlt to which he replied "BEEN SITTING IN THE GARDEN AND HAVE HAD A HARD DAY AT WORK" By this time I was like WTF is going on here, and everytime the glass tumbler moved I "tested" it for any foul-play by exerting pressure against the glass so if that my gran was in any way pushing it it would naturally slow down, but believe me the glass tumbler did not slow down and kept moving at the EXACT same rate, added to which my gran's finger was only barely touching the glass, just resting on it. This was going on for about 10 minutes altogether, and as the minutes went by i noticed the tumbler started to jerk erratically and started whirring round in circles. I asked my Gran why and she said that his time had expired here, apparently he could only come to talk for a short time, so she said some sort of prayer type things and "Goid bless, rest in peace" etc etc and it ended.

After asking my Nan loads of questions in a slightly strained voice she calmly told me that heaven was in some ways like life on earth, people worked, never got ill or died, never suffered from crime (after all if theres a heaven there must be a hell right?) and were perfectly content. She said had contacted Cedrick before several times she told me and every time he said that he'd been in the garden or at work (didnt say what he worked as). As I was starting to ask her more the doorbell rang (it was my Mum back from shopping) and my Gran said my mum was a little funny about things like that so not to tell her.

Anyway to cut an overly long story short, everthing i have described above is the absolute truth as i saw it, i wouldnt take the time to write something like this if I was full of shlt im not the type of person to, and if you dont believe it, hell i dont blame you neither would i if i hadnt have seen it for myself. Needless to say it has sparked a real fvcking curiousity in this sort of thing and its something i want to test again in the future, i just havent had time alone with my Gran as all my family have been there (I see her once every 2 years). But anyway i now believe its the real-deal, and as someone who was once skeptical of this thing to say the least (Im a "believe it when I see it" type person) this was a very big thing for me. Anyway, make your own mind up ive said my (bloody LONG) piece. :D:beer:

llusion?...so tell me how come me and a friend had our finger slightly hovering above the coin, not even touching,
and still it moved with purpose.

i never tried ouija but we tried it via the chinese style...
they sell these yellowsheets of paper that look like tao talismans...and u can place a coin on top
and say some generic chant and it started moving...i know we did not touch the coin coz
after we played it for a while some of us were unconvinced so i took a liquid marker and basically
colored the entire coin with it, then we played it again...being careful to NOT touch the coin so as to rule
out foulplay. Well, it still moved and answered questions...and then we looked at our fingers...no marks.
Checked the coin, ink from red marker still wet and would have marked our finger had we touched it.

Hey Gnote cheers for that I dont know why my post didnt go on properly, I spent 19 minutes writing the fricking thing, lol. And I believe ouija is illusionary for the people who fake it, but I believe a very small percentage of people can genuinely make it work. :D:beer:

Ouiga boards are crap. If you believe there is anything special about these things, you are a complete moron on the subject. Same goes for tarot cards and crap like that.
