Okay, so this housefly is being a pain in the ass in my computer room for a few days...but its stuck behind the blinds, so I don't bother it. 2 minutes ago it finally gets out and lands on the door just below the doorknob. I am trying to stop it from leaving the room (I have a pet parakeet that it could piss off...plus they are annoying!) so I whack the thing with a fly swatter that I had in here for when it finally escaped. Okay, its dead...

NOPE! Its just upside down and pretending! I get it onto the swatter so i can flush it...and it starts walking around! I quickly turn the swatter over and hit it again...once again its NOT DEAD...just on its back...so I hit it 3 more times...and the damn thing WON'T DIE!

Okay, NOW i'm pissed...cept its walking towards the damn heating vent...OMG! I hit it...

NOT GONNA DIE! It walks into the heating vent...and its gone...I can't get the damn thing now. So I'm just waiting for that friggin thing to come out the vent in my room or something.

Or, we might have to turn on the heater in a few days (supposed to be 56`F tomorrow...40s overnight ) so it'll die of heat...

UPDATE:

Well, the fly made a terrible decision; it exited the vent! Not a smart thing to do when you have a pissed off, sick, tired guy in great shape with a fly swatter at his side.

It got out, started flying at the ceiling, I don't know where it proposed to go, but it sure looked as if it was trying to go right through the ceiling! So I'm trying to swat the thing, but its fast! So I made so much wind that it brought the fly down to about 9 inches from the ceiling and from there I took this mammoth Mark McGwire swing at it....

HOME RUN!!!

I hit that fly REAL hard...I didn't hear any more buzzing after that! But I wanted to find it so my pet parakeet wouldn't find it and eat the thing ! So I did...it was naaaaasty...but its gone now.

Yeah, I almost felt bad killing it...but daaaaaum was I pissed! I would have let it go free (if I could have caught it), but it would have died overnight anyway, what with the temperature going down to 40 or less.

I got another fly a few days ago that had been behind the blinds in the computer room with 3 swats...I think they're breeding! One day they might take over the world! Or at least my computer room. Hopefully they'll just start to inbreed and end up as these puny, freak flys with 1 wing and 19 legs.

how to kill a flying pest:

spray it with hair spray (non toxic for us, well, not really).
spray it some more to soak it.
it will eventually stop to clean itself.
put on some gloves.
get a lighter.
turn it on, with a flame.
walk near the bug.
with hairspray in hand... BLOW TORCH.

lighter can be replaced with something else...

the alcohol soaked bug will catch on fire and die. nuff said.

note, if you have carpeting, the bug will leave a spot.

Get a small glass jar and light a small piece of paper and drop it in there and close the lid with fly inside.
The fumes and smoke will eventually kill the fly, and you have the enjoyment of watching a fly suffer to death.

that said, that was one mofo fly. i had this fly in the apartment for about 5 days, biggest damn fly ever. chased it around all over the place and it always avoided me. i think the cockateal got it.

You know, flies only live for 3 or 4 days, you could have just let it suffer, knowing it's not going to be able to pro-create.. (Unless you have 2 week old pizza, dead animals, or feces in your room...)

Yeah, I've sat there and wasted prolly half a can of hairspray and other flammable sprays doing the blowtorch.. with some things, sometimes it will melt the nozzle, but with most things, if you look at it, the flame actually starts a distance from the nozzle.. heh..
