I still don't understand it myself. I was passed out in the apartment complex and ticketed for minor consumption, but my arrest was for illegal transportation of a controlled substance on a public highway. I have no idea how they came up with that since I was never on a highway or even near one.

I agree 110%.... Its DUI down here in FL....

I don't drink. On occasion I've shuttled my friends home but by and large I'm not really around people who are drinking.

I always make sure to hand over my keys or have a designated driver assigned before I start drinking. It really pisses me off when people tell me about their DUI experiences as though it's some kind of accomplishment. My roommate once when driving so drunk he couldn't remember where he was going. Thank God he found his way back to the parking lot without hitting anthing.

Depends on your definition of the term. Any alcohol? of course. Over the "legal limit"? Sure. Many times. When you *know* you're too drunk to drive - never.
Edit - didn't mean to have that quote in there.

Years ago when I was in college, we used to have saturday night beach bonfires over at Davenport (north of Santa Cruz). One night I'd had too much to drink (you know the feeling; it's when you're beyond a good buzz and seriously starting to lose coordination). When it came time to drive home (over Highway 17, which runs from the beach through the mountains, and back down into Santa Clara Valley - not the easiest road under any circumstances) I had to give it everything I had just to keep the car within the lane..

I think without exception that was the stupidest thing I have ever done in my life. It's good fortune that nothing bad happened that night, but it very easily could have.

I have outgrown that phase of my life, and while I still drink upon rare occasion, I will never drink and drive, ever again.

only the penitent man shall pass 😀

Once. I got pretty drunk at a party because we were supposed to be able to sleep there but ended up getting told to leave. I drove two blocks to the beach and slept it off.

You're not allergic to alcohol. If you were, you would be in trouble any time someone swabbed your cuts or prepped you for a shot.

This has happened to me a few times too with cheap vodka. Try other types of alcohol.
Either that or you're not producing enough acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, which is an enzyme that breaks down acetaldehyde. Asians are low on this enzyme too. If they drink too much, their body can't get rid of the acetaldehyde quick enough and they get sick.

A drunk DUI defense attourney killed my best friend and his wife a half mile from the place we had just finished eating sushi at 2 1/2 years ago so I could never get behind the wheel after drinking. Before that I drove home buzzed a few times but only on my cycle so I was even more of a danger to me than others.
