I seriosluy doubt that the Silvia will make it here...the new "Z" is supposed to debut here in a few years with a much lower price tag.

Ach, Japanese cars turn me off for several reasons:

1. Not as safe as big American muscle
2. Too small and cramped
3. Buzzy, high RPM engines
4. Foreign parts (prices)
5. FWD bites! (very, very few RWD)
6. Cramped engine compartments
7. Hell, cramped every compartment!

I'd just as soon snag good old American muscle if I were inclined that way. I'd prefer big fat comfy cruisers. If I could make one of those fast, I'd be plenty happy.

1. The bigger the safer!
2. I never do any "twisty" road racing
3. Parts are cheap and easy to come by
4. American muscle is easy to upgrade and repair
5. There's no substitute for cubic inches
6. American muscle holds it's value
7. Pothole filled American roads require full sized cars
8. Elbow room!

I used to own one and I sort of miss it.

I guess I could get another like this 1965 Pontiac GTO for $18,900! Or maybe a more refined cruiser like this 1967 Pontiac Catalina convertible for $9,900. Ah, here's a 1968 Pontiac GTO Convertible with hidden headlights for only $21,900

Well anyway, they're available here and there for varying prices and conditions. There aren't many Japanese vehicles that catch my fancy like good old American muscle. If form follows function, than it's gotta be American. The function I require above all is the ability to walk away after a crash! There's just too many idiots drinking, falling asleep or talking on cell phones to dismiss that requirement.

Well actually casiotech, we are but I don't think the mods are gonna care for that and tonight doesn't seem to be a night to push your luck! I'd go for american over japanese anything 'cause I'm too tall to fit in most rice burners!

As much as I love slicing around turns in a low, well-tuned suspensioned little sporty car, once you've felt torque, I don't think you can go back. It's a feeling really, smashes you into the back of your seat.

The huge drawback is awful gas mileage, but I think it would be worth it. The sound, the look, the power. Another good thing about it is you can have 3 of your friends all relaxin', and still.. 0-60 no sweat. 0-100 no sweat. My friend's dad had just bought a '65 GTO with the Three Duece 389. 4 of us in the car, goes up to 100 like lightning... Baaaaaaaad.

That rotary engine is the main reason I'd take one. While not inexpensive, you can squeeze more HP per cu/inch(litre) out of that motor than most other cars out there.

 

An AWD launch, and then what...... *makes farty sound*

295's on the rear end get the job done just the same. Couple hundred extra horsepower to play with is just the added bonus.

Damn, I'm a German car owner and feel left out (j/k). Though if I had to choose, I would probably choose a Shoyu burner. The only American Muscle cars I would consider is the Dodge Viper GTS, or Shelby Series 1. Or if I had the money the Saleen S7, but where the hell would you driver a car like that (here in Hawaii anyway)?

American Iron, anyday. We have 4 cars and they are all American. We have a Olds,Pontiac Dodge and my AMC Jeep.

If you think that american muscle won't do the twistys you are all lost. Hotchkis,PST, and a few others make performance suspension/brake parts for american cars. I have seen GTOs do more then .90 on a skid pad and has anyone heard of a car named Big Red. It was a 69 Camaro that won the Silver State Classic in Nevada. It averaged over 200MPH. Sure it was more then 40 grand but there wasn't a rice cake even close to it.

American iron takes a back seat to no one.
