So people are reporting that OCing the AthlonXP will be a little impossible since there is a little "valley" on the L1 bridge reduring conductive pen/pencil markings useless..

So what'll give you a better performing OC for the next generation of processors by AMD and Intel....take a poll guys. :)

EDIT: What I mean by "impossible" is OCing by way of strictly multiplier adjustments--leaving the FSB to run at spec. So anyway--now OCing would be done by way of ONLY FSB adjustments since AMD and Intel have effectively locked the multiplier...

I heard the pencil trick won't work but wasn't there a link yesterday that had a guy use the defogger method with success???

Will go and take a look...

Found the thread: Here: (Courtesy of MisterNi)

And a quote:

Just to add a side note, All my multipliers are working now. I re-did them and took my time and laind it on thick. Rear Window Defogger Repair Kit

Looks promising :)

AHHHH--OMG!!

Tape and car rear window defogger???!!!!!!!!!????? In the linked-post, he also said he'll have to redo the trick since he was only able to get whole-numbered multiplier adjustments.

that's crazy--I wish they (AMD) left the L1 bridges alone. I'm probably too scared to do something that extreme. :(

Unlocking using the Loctie method just requires a decent magnifying glass, scotch tape, a steady hand, and a little patience. One bottle is enough for about 1,000 CPUs give or take a few dozen.

Still, .13 Northwood is tempting.

I said Northwoood, becuase with it's 13um process it should be a great ocer, and the P4 can use every MHz it can get. I personally think that ocing the Athlon is going to get continually harder and harder because as we increase clock speed, yields will start to lower and thus will mean less ocing potential.
