Edit: Feel free to discuss your philosophy on the subject raised in the poll:)

I personally think that our world exists in our mind. Therefore if you believe that life is meaningless it is, or if you beleive the opposite, that also is true.

Life itself is without any meaning, for time started with the Big Bang and will either end with a Big Crunch or it will keep expanding till the universe contains less than one particle per m^3. Either way, everything we'll have accomplished before that time will be gone forever, so yes, life has no meaning.

Well, to accurately answer that question, first you have to define life and then you have to define meaning.

If life is say someone living in a vegatative state and meaning is the ability to walk, then yes, life is meaningless.

However, I think that life and meaning have to be defined somewhat more generally than that; life being the function of living and the awareness of life and meaning being defined as serving some purpose or being important.

For me, life has meaning.

DO i think life is meaningless? Can you give me a definition of a word "meaning"? Meaning to whom? We have as much meaning to live as an ant, not a bit more not a bit less.

pretty much. there are just so many things that are beyond our control. and living your life just seems like more of a chore as days go by. there isn't much one can do. and life is just an everyday process of tiring yourself out. what is there to look forward to? sometimes it's just so tiring that i wish to just run away from everything and everyone who knows me and just forget that i ever existed.

So you dont think that by that time(say a couple of billion of years) that man will leave earth and expand into the stars leaving humanities mark over dozens or maybe even thousands of other planets, solar systems, or even galaxies? How can you say that everything we do is meaningless when what we are today, everything man has accomplished has been becasue of the hard work of the previous generations.
I forgot what movie that was, but basically it goes like this: One single individual disturbs a butterfly and the butterfly flies away. This flight away cause a slight disturbance which somehow affects someone a thousand miles away. I know the anecdote is a tremendous exaggeration, but it illustrates a point. Every individual in this world makes a difference, and can have a affect on something a thousand miles away.
So no, I dont think are life is meaningles. you tell a mother that the life of the person who saved their child's life is meaningless, and see how she responds.
