i have done some research on the 7 geforce 3 cards out there..
for best o/c gf3..got for cardexpert..quite fast too and reasonably priced..
if u asked me to choose btw asus and elsa..
i will take the asus pure as i do not need the additional features for vivo in the deluxe edition..
I don't know if this is a problem 4 u but I have the ASUS v8200 Deluxe. The Card is superb, but the Chip Revision is A3, not A5 or A9. Apparently nVidia pulled the A3 for some reason or other and I think it was stability. I have not had any problems with stability or heat whatsover. The chances are that because I bought as soon as the ASUS came out I got one of the early boards, A5's might be more widely available now.
i'm not sure but i think it was just general erratta fixes and also fixes so that they could get higher yeilds out of the chips... nothing that special... if you have an older one and it probably works fine but if you get a newer one you are more likely to be able to o/c it...
elsa? you mean visiontek?...i'd go with the Asus or a Visiontek for that matter if you're set on an Elsa. by the way how do you find out what revision your GF3 chip is?
I think there are two ways to figure out what rev your chip is - either yank the heatsink and look at the chip markings yourself, or utilize a program. Unfortunately I cannot for the life of me figure out what package it was that read the chip information and determined whether or not it was an A3/A5 chip.
A5 chips supposedly provide more stability if you plan on overclocking the chip - other than that, there are no "bugs" in the A3 as far as I know. I think the A5 was just a better piece of silicon.
if you want to check the chip revision (A3...A5...Ax) just run WCPUID 3.0 B
you'll find it here
run the programm, chose chipset info, look for vga device
I'm curiuos why nobody likes the Asus card. The heatsinks are much better and it was able to overclock well in some of the reviews I read. I think Asus is the only company that designed it's own circuit board.
i have the ASUS 8200 DELUXE, the card is just great.
the software works, the game-bundle is nice, it's damn fast, so i saw no need for OC until now.
short, it's ASUS quality and reliability (3years warranty).
