Hi.
I`ll be buying a few computer parts tomorrow, and want to know if its worth watercooling a 9700pro. No obviously it`d be cooler, but would there be a significant difference between watercooling it, over a ZalmanHP with a the optional fan blowing on it? In a OCing sence.

Here are the specs of the two options;

Asetek "plug `n chill" WaterChill;

Zalman ZM80C-HP + Optional fan.

Personally, I dont think the water is that great of an idea for the card. The tubing looks too small.. A Swiftech MCW50 would be a much better choice IMO since it can take 1/2" tubing..

If you REALLY want it to be cool, get a MCW50-T ;) (Water cooled Peltier)

So my vote is to save your money and get the Zalman

I'm running a 9800 Pro @ 420\365 w/ the Zalman heatpipe and no optional fan. I have the optional fan, but I'm OPting not to use it. Har har.

Seriously though, it runs plenty cool. I'm running with 5 80mm Panaflo L1as.

Even though water looks cool running through your comp, and you can brag to your friends about it, it's really a pretty big hassle. I tried it once, didn't really like it. Air cooling is the way to go, especially for a video card. And a 9700 pro? You should have no problem cooling that.

ya i tired water cooling for about 2 months or so, its cool, everyone wants too look at it, and then u have to worry about moving ur pc, tubing getting lose, water pump dieing, water leaking, etc. bla bla bla bla bla bla bla.

its cool and all but until it can all fit in the space of like a power supply, to much hassle.

want good cooling thats quite go with the zalman stuff.

stick a cpns 7000 al/cu, or a cu if u got the balls, and a heat pipe on the video card, some quite fans to blow air in and out, and boom, ur good to go,

from an engineering look that 7000 heat sink must be one of the smartest designs in a while.

while the slk's got good cooling, i always hated the fin structure because it restricted the air path,
