POLL: Need a New Game!

Ok, so I bought Unreal Tournament 2004 SE from EB Games and received the $20 gift certificate via e-mail tonight. So I am trying to decide on what game to buy...some of the games I've beat recently:

Command and Conquer Generals + Zero Hour Expansion
Warcraft III + Frozen Throne Expansion
Call of Duty

So my initial reaction is to buy Far Cry, but after playing the Demo I don't know if I'd like the whole game. I also though about pre-ordering Doom 3 or Half-Life 2, which would you guys go with?

So what do you guys think? If you don't like one of the above options, post something else! Thanks for the help!
 
I'd just keep waiting. Preordering a game like Doom3 or HL2 seems silly at this point. I thought the Far Cry demo sucked, so I wouldn't waste money there. I'd wait for a Doom3 or HL2 demo to come out and then make your decision. 🙂

OR... are there any accessories you'd want? AFAIK the gift cert should be good on anything from ebgames.com.
 
Maybe try out Pandora Tomorrow? I bought an XBOX yesterday since my PC is down and its a pretty sweet game, havent tried it online but I heard thats the best part.
 
Chrome got a good review in Computer Gaming World for its single-player.

You could pick an RPG like Morrowind GOTY or look for a RPG classic like Planescape: Torment (it appeared in a couple fo shovelware packs).
 
Thanks for the help guys, I'm looking more at Far Cry, does it get any better from the demo? Any other suggestions?
 
yeah hell of alot better than the demo because in the demo you dont get the feel of how big the game is

In either case, my vote went for Far Cry.
 
Chrome sucked.
Far Cry is decent (How decent is decent, I'm having trouble staying interested in it).
Doom3 and HL2 arn't here, so why pre-order them? Unless you don't want a game right away.
I don't have an Xbox so I can't comment on Ninja Gaiden.
Painkiller is coming out in a few days with some awesome looking gameplay (at least from what I've seen / played).
Sacred was good for a few levels if you like top down action/rpgs.
Hitman Contracts is also coming out in a few days, can only hope its as good as the other games have been.

Unless you've missed a bunch of older games, I don't know what to recommend.
 
Sacred....just came out....Diablo style hack'n'slasher. Last week I tried demos of Far Cry, MVP Baseball, and Sacred and decided to get MVP and Sacred. I also didn't care for Far Cry. I guess I prefer mindless RPG hack'n'slashes over mindless FPSs.

And here's another thought....if you see yourself getting Doom and/or HL2, maybe want to hold off Far Cry so you don't get burned out on the FPSs.

The full version of the game plays much better then the demo, although I enjoyed the demo in the first place so you may not be as impressed. Out of your list the only one I'd be iffy to reccomend if Fight Night and that's mainly as I have only seen a couple of reviews and have had no hands on time with it- any of the others should make excellent choices for you.

One advantage FarCry does have over the others, it is $10 less.
 
Thanks guys, I think I am going to go with Fight Night, as it is different than what I have been playing and I enjoyed Knockout Kings 2002 a lot! I also am going ahead and grabbing Far Cry to prep for Doom 3 and HL2. Thanks for the all the help!

The demo for me seemed a little lacking and I couldn't turn the graphics up all the way... the full version I can turn the graphics up all the way and the story and gameplay is awesome. I would recommend getting Far Cry.
 
Full FC is a lot better than the demo's IMO. Demos make it seem much more like a normal and heavily linear shooter, FC really shines in the maps that are completely open and you can go anywhere on the island(s). There was one map where the objectives were barely a half of the island, didnt stop me rampaging over the whole thing though 🙂 Also it is a big game, none of this finished in a day pap.

CCG with zero hour was fun aswell, especially the generals challenges in ZH. But go for FC if you have a fast PC 😀
 
Just bought Pandora Tomorrow. It's a BLAST multiplayer, especially if you team up with someone you know. This game is definitely worth my $40.
 
Far Cry has some great eye candy, if you are only interested in Single Player by all means go for it.
CoD is great single player and awesome MP, although the eye candy isn't there.
