Outside of one of the battery packs dying, my 12v Craftsman has served me well in 12 years performing work on 4 houses.

I had pretty much swore off cordless drills because the batteries would only hold a charge for 2 years or so and it was cheaper to buy a new drill with two batteries then buying one new battery (all Ryobis from Home Depot...went from 7.2V to 9.6V to 14.4V in about a 7 year span). I did pick up a lithium ion Black Decker VPX set with extra batteries on clearance from Home Depot last Christmas and have only charged it once (mainly because I have been using my corded drills)...

Hitachi beats DeWalt, Bosch and Makita in the price for performance area. Their tools are extremely well built, do the job and don't fall apart like the aforementioned. The big names are charging an arm and a leg for their name, but Hitachi gives you a good reliable tool at a reasonable price and their warranty beats all the others.

Look around construction sites and see what the big guys are using. In years past it was the big names, but now it's Hitachi.

I dont recall seeing any hitachi...dewalt is what pros use.

Pro prostitutes, possibly, to power their vibrators, but contractors have been moving to the Hitachi brand for years.

Do you work in construction?

You also see a ton of speciality tools in constructions that PROS are using.

There is a huge difference in the need of having a tool that performs 8 hours straight a day vs a homeowner's needs.

It makes no fucking sense to spend more on all the tools then having the jobs for you done by another.

That li-ion 19.2V craftsman is well received by pros and amateurs alike.

On most 'garage' forums you knuckleheads that swear my snap-on/mac/milwaukee/etc only just get clowned on.

You need an 18v dewalt. I have had every drill known to man, and that's what I prefer.
