I used to have a '67 Camaro RS/SS, had to sell it back in the early 80's, you left off one that I have always coveted above all... the '70 Chevelle SS 454 LS-6

<< Those are some awesome non-working links hammer01 >>

cutting and pasting is even more awsome - you should try it some time 😛

1966 Pontiac GTO. 389c.i. and tri-power(3 two-barrel carbs). My brother has one rotting away in his garage but he is too stuborn to sell it to me so I can restore it.

The Cleveland was the performance engine and the Windsor was the more common type engine. That's where the saying "You better smile when you say theat mister" came from UM. But dat's koo, no real offense taken. 🙂

The Cleveland was a big block version of the 351 whereas the Windsor was a small block. There was also an M which was a modified Windsor I beleive, though I could be mistaken there, been out of touch for several years.......

Both were small blocks. The Windsor version was basically a 302 [5 liter] with a higher deck height to allow a longer stroke to get it to a 351. The Cleveland was quite different and came in 2 or 4bbl. The terms Windsor and Cleveland were loosely given as that is where the motors were assembled although that is not strictly true.

There are other differences that time has made foggy for me...

I like the 442. I had a chance to buy one for $6500 in 1985-86. I was 16 years old, that was a lot of money and there was no way to come up with it. It was a W30 455/automatic car. The owner went and got it out of storage took me for a ride in it. What a beast.

Cleveland and Windsor are both small blocks. But the Cleveland will look physically bigger. Clevelands have 2.75" main bearing bores, the Windsor 3". Clevelands used canted valve heads, while the Windsor used inline valves. The Cleveland begged for RPM, while a Windsor made torque. There are other differences, but I think this is what you were looking for.

The biggest difference between the Cleveland and Windsor was the head design. The name Cleveland came from CV or the Canted Valve heads. The improved valve design gave the engine much better breathing characteristics and it revved much faster. It also tended to blow up less frequently than the tunnel-port heads used in the 302 and 351 Windsor. The Cleveland also had 4-bolt main bearings to stand up to higher revs a little better.

Out of the list for the poll I'd have to take the 'vette. Not in that GOD AWFULL color, tho. YUCK!

Can't believe there isn't a Shelby Cobra, GTO, or 'cuda on the poll, tho...
