Poll: MSI MS-6167 Athlon -OR- MSI K7T Pro 2?

I agree with LXi (for once ;-) you could make the comparison between a Socket 7 mobo and a Socket 5 too, but why would you?

Patrick Palm

Am speaking for PC Resources

I agree there's not much point to comparing the two motherboards but to answer the original question, the MSI K7T Pro2 is far better IMHO.

<<How about the MSI K7T pro2 vs Abit KT7 non raid vs Asus A7V ?>>

Disregarding the advantage A7V holds for its extra controller, I'd put them in this order:

1. MSI K7T Pro2
2. Asus A7V
3. Abit KT7

Im sure your order is the other way around, John.

MSI also allow you to overclock in BIOS, completely jumperless, also $20 cheaper than Abit. What would you pick now?

Lxi, the order I put them in has no relevance. I was mearly suggesting motherboards to choose from. As far as the K7T pro2 being 20.00 cheaper then a KT7 non raid...where?

Ok not quite $20, but the KT7 is $122, the K7T Pro2 *was* $109 at mwave.com. mwave took the K7T Pro2 off for some unknown reasons.

They have the K7t Pro 2, or at least it's listed here K7T pro 2. not open on the weekend I've been emailing and calling since last nite. Oh well whats a few more days. looks like the board to get, for me anyway

MSI obscure, you might as well call Abit and Asus obscure. MSI is #2 behind Asus in boards sold among Taiwanese manufacturers. The Pro2-A has 686B with ATA100 support onboard, the KT7 doesn't. Its worth the $7.

Well... thats true. I expect mwave.com to put them back on, then we'll have a familiar reseller.

Abit KT7 and MSI K7T Pro2 cost about the same.

Abit doesn't have soundcard, but MSI has VIA AC97 soundcard on it.
