Kids sure spend a lot nowadays.

My dad owns a "Movado" watch, it is good I guess.

I don't like their wallets however, since mine worn out in 3-4 years.

when did movado start making wallets ?

Unless his is a two tone (gold and stainless) then there is no way it was 5K new a few years ago, heck new they are only $4250 now....with that said....

Personally I don't ever see why there is a need for matching watches, buy what you like and that way you both will be happy instead of one of you trying to like something you don't just to appease the other.

Personally of the two it is a hard choice, Movado can be had for a good deal whereas cartier is a much better brand at a much higher price.

amazingly I agree with Cressida, in that if you are going to spend that kind of money you should at least consider Tag Heuer, Omega, Baume and Mercier or if you can find them Tudor, which are my favorite middle range brand that is made and serviced by Rolex..too bad they are no longer distributed in the states.

I totally disagree with DigDug when he lumps Rolex, Movado and Omega together and then compares them to Merc and BMW....if anything Rolex is much like Porsche, Audi, VW as they have Cellini, Rolex, and Tudor....Omega is much like Ford since it is owned by Swatch, Omega would be like Ford's owning Jaguar...Movado is more on the lines with a Japanese car company, take your pick as to which.

I also disagree with sygyzy as there are more than a few very nice pieces by Movado, however most of their line is nothing special. Their new auto pieces and chronos are very nice.

matchign watches ay....i bet you guys dress alike too..what are you the doublemint twins or in highschool....

there is hope though... you will eventually get through this puppy love and then forget about all this matching nonsense and laugh at how silly you were when you think back on it :p

movado is crap. don't spend a ton of money on a quartz EVER.

if you're going to try to match, try tissot, they have some matching ones (although i think in their quartz models only. however, their batteries do last.)

matching watches is absurd. get each other rings for that money. you're whipped. my bf will never wear a watch that matches mine (heck he wears a gshock now and i have a baby g somewhere ... but that doesn't match..)

cartier is expensive too. for that money, i'd get an omega. i've been eyeing that constellation forever but i'll never have the money.

Unbelievable.
But I guess if people are willing to pay that much, they can charge that much.

Get a Boccia watch... look them up, they're quite good watches... i had a side button break off of my titanium watch after two years, but they replaced it for free, just pay shipping

You know what? I try to search for it, but I can't find any, perhaps It was a knock off wallet with the signature "dot" imprint on the front.

I totally disagree with DigDug when he lumps Rolex, Movado and Omega...

I didn't think too hard when choosing as I did. The analogy was with regards to the level of mainstream knowledge and recognition, not with regards to caliber.

For those who thing Omegas don't look classy, make sure to look at their older Seamasters and Constellations. They are incredibly classy, and in fact, I 've always preferred the classic simple clockface desgin of the Omegas from the 50's and 60s, than any of the gaudy things that they market under the same model names. Seamasters now look like some sort of Breitling diver watch. Bulky, overly textured, and ugly. Just like Tag Hauers. Yuck.

My dream watch? Perhaps one of these - A. Lange & Sohn. I could only find a picture of the replica. The real thing is like $50k

It's the gold and stainless with the blue inlay. It was over $5k and it was about a couple years ago if I remember correctly.

BTW-He does own his own house and drives a G35 coupe. Lives in Huntington Beach, CA. Good friend of mine.

Still, I don't think I'd spend $5k on a watch. I suppose I could but I hardly ever wear a watch. Wouldn't be worth it in my opinion.
