Poll: Mouthwash: Before or After you brush your teeth??

I have a some what varying version of my morning routine:

Morning:

Floss (Optional)
Rinse with listerine (To loosen particles and get areas brushing doesn't cover)
Brush

or

Floss (Optional)
25%/75% mixture of Hydrogen Peroxide & Listerine
Brush

or

Brush (Lazy & Quickie)

I don't really enjoy the flavor of listerine so I like to use it to kill bacteria then to brush every thing out after.

I floss, then mouthwash, then brush, then mouthwash, then brush with oxygen toothpaste, then mouthwash again. I use Listerine+hydrogen peroxide+warm or hot water.

Boy, living in 'Bama really has you scared you're gonna get the candy corn teeth, huh? 😀

It's basically a waste of time, but if I did use it, it would be after.

Yeah, I guess all those dentists and hygenists (who go to school for 4-8 years) must be wrong.

If you have doubts...

Why don't you do both..

Do it before to loosen up plaque and do it after to get fresh breath.

After, I guess it's supposed to kill the additional germs reintroduced into your mouth after using your stale old toothbrush.

for those who do it after, do you rinse with water afterward also ? Can't leave that taste in your mouth, can you... strange feeling.

Anyway, what Zhou said about the alcohol is right. I need to check out some of that Therabreath. My mouth is real dry after using mouthwash.

My dentist flosses my teeth, cleans them, and then gives me mouthwash.

That order is good enough for me.

Yes I usually wash my mouth out with a bit of water after using the mouthwash. The new Listerine though is flavored so it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. I could live without washing my mouth with water if I had to with this new flavored stuff.

PLEASE please DONOT use listerine, if you haven't read this yet, please do so!

Btw, you can always google it.

Tricolsan's patent by Colgate expires in 2008, so we won't be seeing anything else (toothpaste) with it anytime soon.

Wait, I don't see whats wrong with Listerine. I use that so should I stop? If so what should I use instead?

1. NO ALCOHOL!
2. ALOCHOL dries mouth = bad breath
3. Oxygen kills bacteria in mouth without drying
4. Therabreath at your drug store contain Oxygen
5. Triclosan in Colgate Total kills bad breath

Listerine:
Aqua, Alcohol [...] etc.

I see. I guess I should switch to Therabreath and Triclosan now. 🙂

Edit: I mean Colgate Total.
