I've read you want to use mouthwash before since you're supposed to let the flouride from the toothpaste sit on your teeth, but my mouthwash contains flouride and I always do it after brussing. Floss, brush, mouthwash.

I remember for the longest time I would rinse my mouth after using mouthwash for some reason.

I finally analyzed what I was doing and it made no sense whatsoever. Why use mouthwash and then rinse it out? I now just spit it out.

This thread made me curious about the mouthwash that's been in my bathroom for a long time. I went and checked. Turns out the mouthwash expired in August of 2002.

So to answer the OP: Do I use mouthwash before or after brushing teeth? No, I do not.

Does mouthwash that expired over 15 years ago pose a health hazard?

Use some and let us know?

Mouthwash is like a fine wine; it gets better with age.

Actually...

Find an old bottle of Listerine or some such other alcohol/thymol combo that expired, or one you just want to pitch? Save it for a foot soak. Does a pretty good job killing foot and nail fungus, or just as a hard clean for smelly feet.

No, its 150 proof now.

Before brushing then rinse to clear out any food in your mouth then brush.

You want toothpaste to be left on your teeth and rinsing it off with mouthwash does more harm then good.

If option 3 is your pick then you clearly are a god. 😀
