I've never posted a poll at Anandtech, but I was curious what people are thinking is the next generation "smart phone" they are most interested in.

I'm not sure of the name of the touch-screen version of the Blackberry that's been rumored - I thought it was the 9000, but now I'm seeing pictures of the 9000 on Engadget and Gizmodo that look more like a glossy, profile-style Curve. DivideByZero, do you know?

If anyone has one they want added, post it and I'll add it into the poll.

It's not intended to be in any particular order - although I grouped by manufacturer.

To be fair I cannot talk about any upcoming products due to restrictions. So, I can not confirm or deny what that device is.

Nice spec, though! If it's true. ;)

Look at my thread on the Samsung Instinct. It was just announced on Tuesday at CTIA and looks incredibly sweet from the beta versions.

Agreed I was thinking of getting a curve this summer with Sprint. But I have to say the Samsung has possibilities.

You forgot the Treo 800w. I still think the 700wx is the best Windows Mobile phone available and hopefully, the 800w will improve on it with a smaller form factor, higher resolution screen, more ROM and still keep all of the enhancements Palm has done to Windows Mobile to make the phone actually easy to use.

I'm kinda looking at the Xperia, but side-slide form factors are worthless to me. I'd love to see a re-release of something similar to the HTC Blue Angel/Harrier, but with HTC's track record on the actual software the past three years, it still wouldn't hold a candle to the 700wx.

the Samsung Instinct looks alright, but what the hell is "Advanced Stereo Bluetooth® Wireless Technology with audio caller ID" is that just a fancy way of saying A2DP so if you have a ringtone you hear it thru your BT headset? I had that on my phone 2 years ago not very advanced if you ask me :)

Um I read the audio caller ID as it would announce name when phone rings. Guess I could of read it wrong though.

That Sony Xperia X1 looks interesting. I had never seen that one before. That's the form factor that I wish the iPhone had. The iPhone's multi touch screen + a slide out keyboard would be perfect. It really comes down to Sony's UI and apps. Can they make all of their apps work as seamlessly as the iPhone's? It's also a question of 3rd party development support also. You know that the iPhone is about to get a bunch of nice new apps now that they have a SDK.

Sony Xperia X1 no doubt, as long as Sony doesn't screw up and give it to AT&T. I'd rather pay more $$$ for an uncrippled and unlocked phone.

Sony already screwed up the Xperia X1 by making it a Windows Mobile device. Aside from the super high resolution screen I don't see this phone being good at all. ANY smartphone OS would be better than Windows Mobile.
Sony should have got with Nvidia, they demoed some sort of mobile device they're working on. The interface was very cool, maybe even nicer than iPhone. There's nothing in the works except they want to find companies to use it in their devices. It would make have the Xperia so effing cool. Instead, we get another crappy Windows Mobile device *sigh*

If you do a Google search, the pre-order price for the Xperia X1 is $800-1000. Way out of my price range... :(

BAN HIM!!!

But seriously, the X1 looks like a great device, but SE no longer does CDMA. I read a preview of the phone that says it was made entirely in NA and targeted for the NA market, which seems weird, since CDMA is the more popular network both subscriber-wise and coverage-wise (especially 3G). I might be interested in it if I wouldn't have to switch to AT&T and pay $60 a month for data and text before even adding voice minutes.

For those that haven't seen the hands on for the X1:

The panels interface is just a replacement for the Today screen, so you can get rid of it and have it look like a standard WinMo device. I also didn't know it was a 480x800 screen. I thought it was 480x640.

Looks sharp, but I still like the keyboard being more accessible for one-handed use.

Don't count out the possibility of a CDMA version. Its branded as a SE, but its made by HTC.

And btw, that Nvidia demo was of their graphics accelerator and new multi core ARM processors. And guess what, it was running Windows CE!

someday, iphone bois will realize their slick interface is just, well, a slick interface. All they have done is dumb down the 'smartphone'. Ive yet to see something innovative, just ask this guy.

Yeah, he seems like a very thoughtful person who objectively analyzes the good and the bad parts of the iPhone. He has some good points about the E70 though - including the fact that I've never heard of it.

the E70 is a POS ugly ass phone, not sayin Nokia doesn't make good phones, but to put the E70 up against the iPhone is hilarious.
