Very simple: Which among these major psu manufacturers has the best psu's in terms of stability and long-term quailty for general oc'ing? Make your judgement based not only on the absolute quality but cost also, eg if a psu is not ultra-precise but costs significantly less than an expensive, ultra-precise psu.

OCZ is probably the best, Enermax and Antec are both good, though I prefer enermax, thermaltake?? I barely trust that thing in my backup rig..it's 12v rail is too weak..

Another vote for the fortron group. I've been please with their ratings and their value. Also usually pretty quiet if that's a concern-many have 1 120mm fan.

Thanks y'all ;) llama i'll look at your review. it looks like the ocz powerstream is the one to beat, except the fortron which you guys say is good at a low price. can anyone confirm if the ocz and fortron come with 24 pin mobo connector and pci-e connector

my 520w powerstream has all the connections in the world (definitely including 24pin and pci-e) but i believe older ones don't come with this connection...

(and it's great, another vote for it)

Another vote for Fortron since this about cost-efectiveness.

Negitive. Almost ALL are set on PC Power And Cooling. THose who used the Powerstreams are in the minority

Do the OCZ modstreams stack up well against the powerstreams of same wattage? I like the cabling system the modstream has

The Powerstreams are the best, antec and enermax next, Thermaltake would be in a distant last. I wouldn't trust their PS's anywhere near as much as the other companies' power supplies.

Hippotautamus: The Modstreams have weaker 12v rails than Powerstreams of the same wattage.

No they dont. Modstreams use non-topower parts and therefor are pretty crappy

For all those voting OCZ, remember:

COST EFFECTIVE.

Just seems like a bunch of fanboys vote before reading the poll.

OCZ units, while very popular, are also fairly expensive.
You can get a similar high quality unit for less.

Wow. I didn't know so many people would reply! Thanks a bunch guys, this'll help me in my choice, and hopefully others also looking for a new PSU. You rock!

It seems like most agree that while OCZ is best quality overall, it is a bit expensive also, and fortron is best bang for buck. PCP and cooling seems to get the vote for top-notch quality, at a top-notch price of > $200. Only for the rich!
